Landmark Grand

The Landmark opens up onto a street lined with mid-rise apartment buildings, offices, and hotels with little atmosphere. The hotel building itself is made up of a beige, block-like structure similar to the surrounding edifices. The interior features well-lit, carpeted hallways hung with an occasional piece of art. The property’s plain, clean lobby consists of a small marble check-in desk, a seating area with a couple of chairs and a couch, a bank of elevators, and abstract sculptures. Overall, decor is minimal.

The Landmark’s immediate area is rather gritty, consisting of a built-up area with very little on the surrounding streets apart from mid-rise hotels and office buildings. However, Al Ghurair shopping center is just a few blocks away, and street life begins to hop a bit more in that area. Union Metro Station is a six-minute walk west from the hotel, providing access to metro and bus lines. As such, central Dubai can be reached via a single subway line (travel time: 40 minutes), while Dubai International Airport can be reached via bus (30 minutes). For those taking a taxi or driving a car, the airport is just 10 minutes southeast, barring traffic.

Rooms at the Landmark vary in size, ranging from Standard Rooms to suites, and follow the same basic aesthetic: black-out shades, sand-colored wall-to-wall carpeting, walls painted a neutral shade of taupe, wood built-ins that include panel headboards and closets, and modest wood furnishings. The color scheme is calming, if generic. Larger rooms have modestly sized sitting areas separated from sleeping areas by partial walls, while the largest suites have living areas with doors. Chrome fixtures in the small-ish bathrooms are handsome, though not fancy. Shower/tub combos are fairly standard issue with tiling that's a handsome slate color. All rooms also have mini-fridges with soda and water, electric kettles with tea and coffee, wall-mounted flat-screen TVs, safes, and hairdryers. A few guests have noted lingering smoke smells even in non-smoking rooms. 

A small fitness center is home to a handful of machines and an adjacent sauna and steam room. The rooftop pool is tiny, suitable for dipping mostly, and some guests have noted an occasionally overpowering noise from the nearby air-conditioning unit. Two on-site restaurants, both of which generally receive positive reviews from guests, offer buffet-style meals in dining rooms with a few contemporary touches like beaded window curtains and frosted glass doors. The property also has two rooftop meeting rooms with an array of tech as well as the Rendezvous Ballroom, which can hold up to 100 people.
