Valamar Argosy Hotel

The four-pearl Valamar Argosy Hotel has a bright, modern lobby where potted plants and wicker couches with fabric cushions are lined up in an atrium under funky ceiling fixtures. There’s an office-like lounge area with a muted color scheme; here guests can sit on bean bag chairs and read one of the books available or rest in a lounge chair and gaze out the big windows facing the hotel’s green landscaping. Cabanas and lounge chairs give the indoor pool area a relaxing vibe, while panoramic windows offer views of the sea. Cooking is on display at the buffet restaurant where guests can watch food as it's being prepared, and a bar offers outdoor seating on a patio surrounded by leafy trees. Outside, guests can take in the dramatic sea views at the infinity-edge pool. Overall this property offers a peaceful atmosphere suited to couples and families, though the location a 15-minute bus ride away from Dubrovnik's Old Town may be a deterrent to some guests. 

This hotel is located on a hill in a complex with other hotels in the Babin Kuk peninsula next to a park. It’s a good spot for taking in lovely sea views, but it’s around an eight-minute drive (or 15- to 20-minute bus ride) to the sights in Dubrovnik's Old Town, a UNESCO World Heritage Site with preserved churches and fountains dating back to the 13th century. There’s a beach a four-minute walk away with crystal-clear water guests rave about (though no direct beach access within the property), and the Dubrovnik-Cilipi Airport is around a half hour drive away.

Rooms at Valamar Argosy Hotel are pleasant and serene, with mint green or pale blue walls and modern carpets. Some of the furniture is more functional than fashionable, such as the built-in nightstands, simple blond-wood desks, and basic wardrobes. Artsy botanical prints add a bit of appeal, but wall-to-wall carpets and dim sconce lighting mutes the room's elegance. But all rooms have stocked minibars, flat-screen TVs, and free Wi-Fi. Basic bathrooms are tiled and have shower/tub combos. Some rooms have balconies furnished with a small table and chairs; these spaces have either sea or garden views. 

This hotel has a modern indoor pool area and a huge outdoor, infinity-edge pool with sea views as well as a children’s pool. During the high season, an entertainment staff organizes activities for the children, and live music is offered on some evenings. There’s also an outdoor playground with a plastic slide. The hotel has a fitness center with some dated equipment, and there’s a spa with saunas. An on-site restaurant offers buffets for lunch and dinner, and there's a bar with a lovely outdoor terrace. Parking is available for a fee. Wi-Fi is free throughout.
