Scene
Modern, elegant hotel owned by the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh and popular with business travelers
The elegant Ten Hill Place Hotel is situated in a quiet square near the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh and is owned by the College, with all of its profits invested back into training surgeons worldwide. The main areas of the hotel are housed in a modern beige-and-glass extension, though many rooms are located in a beautiful Georgian stone building that was previously the Postgraduate Residence of the College. The lobby sets the tone of the hotel's sleek, minimalist decor with a simple color palette of neutral tones enlivened by crimson accent walls and square armchairs. Besides bursts of green courtesy of a few potted plants, the space is quite simple. The 10 Wine Bar is similarly uncluttered, though bright and inviting, dotted with pops of playful colors like turquoise and yellow chairs and lamps that compliment brown walls and wooden floors. The No. Ten restaurant turns it up a notch, clad in elegant maroon shades with black-and-white photographs on the walls and floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the cobblestone street and grassy square. Ten Hill Place Hotel is a popular conference hotel, with an abundance of meeting rooms and event space that includes the beautiful, historic halls and libraries belonging to the College. Though the vibe skews corporate and many guests are business travelers, families are catered to with adjoining rooms, extra rollaway beds, and baby cots.
