Bottom Line

The Hilton Hurghada is a sprawling three-pearl hotel located on a private beach, a five-minute drive from Hurghada’s tourist district. Like most area resorts, there is an array of amenities for all ages here, including a water park, entertainment, a diving center, a fitness center, and a kids’ club. There are also 11 dining and drinking options offering an array of world cuisines, from seafood to Italian to lighter snacks and burgers. However, the resort lacks a spa, and there are pesky fees for in-room Wi-Fi and parking. Rooms are clean and spacious, but decor is plain and somewhat old-fashioned; bathrooms are in need of an update. Couples seeking a quieter atmosphere may want to compare rates at the adult-only SUNRISE Holidays Resort, though rates there may be higher.

Hilton Hurghada Resort

Scene

Busy chain hotel set in sprawling manicured grounds abutting a private beach

This sprawling property is divided into two sections located on opposite sides of a busy road. The largest section in the one by the beach, and is home to the lobby, restaurants, bars, and other common areas. The smaller section is known as the villa area, and features a smaller number of rooms housed in low structures built around a pool deck. On either side of the road, landscaped lawns dotted with palm trees, flowers, and a few hammocks tied between trees lend the property a serene feel. The atmosphere is lively, however, especially in the areas around the main pool and the water park, which are a favorite among the many families who stay here.

Interiors are airy and spacious throughout, but there the style is dated for the most part, especially in the rooms. The lobby is large, with big windows overlooking the grounds, and a lounge with bar service. With a beige marble front desk and clocks showing the time in different countries, the reception area can’t quite shake off the vintage business feel typical of the Hilton chain, despite parquet floors, wicker furniture, and a few plants. The hotel caters almost exclusively to leisure travelers, though given the brand name and modest business facilities, business travelers do pass through as well.

Location

Beachfront property, a five-minute drive from the tourist dining and shopping area

The Hilton is located off a busy road running parallel to the coast all the way to the Old Town. There are only other resorts within walking distance, but the main tourist area is just a five-minute drive away, including the Hard Rock Cafe, a few fast food joints, and a couple of malls. The main Hurghada-Safaga Road is just a short drive away and offers easy access to a number of other shopping and dining options. The property is located a five-minute drive from the Hurghada Grand Aquarium, and a 20-minute drive from both El Dahar, which is the old town, and Sekalla, the city center. The hotel is a 10-minute drive from the airport.

Rooms

Clean but dated rooms with flat-screen TVs and minibars

The hotel has 401 rooms, all with beige tile floors, cream-colored walls, and large windows opening onto furnished balconies or patios. All units are clean and spacious, but decor is dated and plain throughout, with classic dark wood headboards and desks, old-fashioned geometric prints on curtains, and generic couches or armchairs in faded yellow hues. Additionally, the grout between tiled in the floors has seen better days, and things have an almost unkempt look, with nicks in furniture and seating whose cushions aren't exactly perky.

Standard amenities include air-conditioning, flat-screen TVs, safes, and minibars stocked with water, juice, sodas, and candy. Extras such as electric kettles, robes, and slippers are provided in all but standard units as well. Wi-Fi is free in the lobby, but there is a daily charge for in-room internet access. Family Rooms have two bedrooms and a living area with a small kitchenette, and many have a sofa bed for an extra guest. Bathrooms are spacious but in need of an update, with white wall tiles, beige floors, and basic shower/tub combos in most.
