Killyhevlin Lakeside Hotel & Lodges

The Killyhevlin Lakeside Hotel & Lodges is set in a lush, parklike landscape on the shore of Lough Erne, and is dedicated to offering guests a haven of wellness and relaxation. The lawns are dotted with benches and private seating areas, and the exteriors are spacious, tranquil, and close to nature. Inside, the atmosphere is upmarket, with a bright lobby full of plush velvet couches and armchairs. The walls are hung with local art and photography, adding even more local color. Killyhevlin is a popular local wedding venue, and the bar and restaurants are local hotspots, too, which adds to the warm, welcoming feel of the hotel (though weddings can, at times, give the property a crowded feeling). The hotel also draws plenty of families, but there are child-free zones, including the spa and health club, and Kove, the a la carte restaurant, which “prefers” that kids eat before 7:30 pm. Keep in mind that there are is no proper kids' club or schedule of organized children's activities.

Located just off the main A4 Dublin Road just outside of small town Enniskillen, the hotel is a 90-minute drive from Belfast, and two-hour drive from Dublin. This in a great spot for exploring Ulster and the Fermanagh Lakelands, and the hotel sits right on the shore of Lough Erne. Guests will need a car to explore the local area, though, as there isn't anything within walking distance. The center of the historic town of Enniskillen is a 10-minute drive from the property. In addition, there are three National Trust Properties within 20 to 30 minutes of the hotel, including the Crom Estate, Castle Coole, and the Florence Court House. Marble Arch Caves National Park, one of Europe’s most spectacular cave sites, is a 30-minute drive from the hotel. The area is popular with golfers as well, and the Enniskillen Golf Club is a 20-minute drive from the hotel. The nearest airports are in Belfast and Dublin.

The Killyhevlin Lakeside Hotel & Lodges offers a variety of room configurations for individuals and families, plus suites and lakeside chalets with full kitchens. The decor is mostly sophisticated and pleasant, with rich fabrics in maroons and golds, plush carpeting, and handsome wood furniture with gorgeous patterning in the grain. However, elements like exposed irons and trouser presses hung on the walls leave a bit to be desired, as do the satin bedspreads. Each room has a large, modern bathroom with separate tub and shower stall. Chalets sleep four, and come with full kitchens that include dishwashers, stoves with ovens, toasters, and everything else guests might need. Lakeside views are spectacular from many rooms, and guests who can afford the extra charge won’t be disappointed. All rooms features flat-screen TVs with satellite channels, free Wi-Fi, mini-fridges, electric kettles, laptop safes, and free toiletries; some rooms have DVD players and access to the hotel DVD library. 

One of the centerpieces of the Killyhevlin Lakeside Hotel & Lodges is the Elemis Spa, a luxury day spa that offers full and half day spa packages for men and women, where the treatments include Balinese and Thai massage, anti-aging treatments, detox programs, wraps, facials, and scrubs. The Killyhevlin Health Club includes a large indoor pool that's big enough for laps with lake views, sauna, steam room, and indoor and outdoor hot tubs. The big, bright gym area has a good selection of modern cardio and weight machines, plus free weights (though the purple carpet isn't the easiest on the eyes). Personal training and fitness classes are offered, including spinning, aqua-fit, and bootcamp classes. The Boathouse Grill and Bar serves food all day long in an airy dining room with lovely lake views. The spacious bar is popular with both locals and hotel guests. Kove Restaurant offers a modern, a la carte, fine dining menu in an elegant dining room with hip furnishings and funky purple lighting (kids are “preferred” before 7:30 pm). Breakfast is included with the hotel's packages and offer hot and cold buffet items. The Killyhevlin also serves afternoon tea and a popular, traditional Sunday Carvery lunch. Both Wi-Fi and parking are free.
