Bottom Line

Eden House has had the same owner for nearly 40 years, and numerous loyal customers return year after year for the affordable prices and friendly vibe. Rooms can be bare-bones, though. Even the higher-level rooms are fairly plain, with small bathrooms, simple (verging on bland) decor, and very little furniture (aside from the apartment-style rooms). This historic hotel does have a nice pool courtyard surrounded by palm trees, lovely grounds with deck areas, hammocks, and koi ponds throughout, and tons of freebies (Wi-Fi, parking, and happy hour) that make it a good value.

Eden House

Location

In Old Key West, within walking distance of the island's shops and restaurants

Perched on quaint Fleming Street in Old Key West, Eden House is still near plenty of restaurants, bars, and entertainment spots. The only catch is that it takes about 25 minutes to walk to the beach.

The island is packed with an eclectic mix of nature preserves, party bars, and luxury hotels. Duval Street is the main artery of Old Town Key West, and is lined with restaurants, bars, and tacky souvenir shops boasting bright, ridiculous T-shirts. The town's popularity has Key West fans worried, as it is a hot spot for real estate buyers. Beaches are small, but nice, and the area is rather kitschy, but Key West has a certain lovable funk that keeps the tourists coming.

  • 8-minute drive to Key West International Airport
  • 5 to 10-minute walk to various restaurants and bars
  • 12-minute walk to Duval Street
  • 14-minute walk to the Key West Heritage House Museum and Robert Frost Cottage
  • 17-minute walk to Key West Aquarium
  • 18-minute walk to Ernest Hemingway Home
  • 25-minute walk to South Beach
