Bottom Line

The 63-room Alcazar Resort is a quaint, adult-only gay men's resort with optional nudity and a location two blocks from the beach. Modestly furnished rooms mostly overlook the pools, and studio units with kitchenettes and dining tables are available. Features include three 24-hour outdoor pools, two hot tubs, and three courtyards that are shared by two sister properties. Dining is casual, and there are a cafe, free breakfast in the lobby, and weekend barbecues. There’s also a modern gym. For more pleasantly decorated rooms, guests may prefer the sister property, the Villa Venice Resort.

Alcazar Resort

Scene

Clothing-optional gay men's property with tropical landscaping and a lively poolside scene

Clothing is optional at the Alcazar Resort, a mid-range property that was built in 1959 and has retained its retro charm. The two-floor, yellow-painted resort features outdoor hallways with circular-patterned railings that overlook tropical foliage surrounding the pool. Aimed at gay men, this resort is one of three connected sister properties. Worthington Guesthouse was the first property purchased, and then in 2005 the Alcazar Resort was added. Villa Venice Resort was the last to be included in 2012. All three resorts share pools, hot tubs, and other facilities. The clientele is a mixture of singles and couples who come from around the world for the friendly atmosphere and clothing-optional policies on the ground floor. Furnishings here aren’t fancy, but most come for the social atmosphere, occasional weekend barbecues, and happy hours on Saturday nights.
