Bottom Line

This 97-room design hotel is a playful place in the midst of a drab corporate area. Its colorful and quirky design extends from the public spaces to the individually decorated rooms, which offer free Wi-Fi and iPod docks. There's a restaurant, bar, and lounge on-site, plus meeting rooms for business guests. A few tourist attractions are within easy walking distance, and there's a tram stop directly outside and an underground station a short walk away. Guests can also use the four-pearl hotel's free Mini Cooper or borrow a bike to get around.

25hours Hotel The Goldman

Scene

Eco-friendly tourist hotel with flamboyant and fun design

You don't even need to go inside the 25hours Hotel The Goldman to know that it's a little different from the norm. With one facade painted orange and another painted an aqua-blue, this hotel makes a playful statement from quite a distance. Inside, there's a doormat printed with "hello stranger" (for guests entering) and "goodbye friend," (for those on their way out) and the lobby is just as quirky as you'd expect, with a penguin lamp, a blue light display on the front desk, and a collection of globes behind it. Throughout the hotel, public spaces are a constant surprise, with garishly colored walls printed with witty slogans and plastered with droll art prints. This eco-friendly hotel is mostly geared to youngish tourists, with its clear sense of fun and flamboyance and its easygoing atmosphere.

Location

Staid location near office buildings, but good transport links

In some ways, it seems that the hotel's sense of fun is mismatched with its staid location, surrounded by offices and a few restaurants. It's in the Ostend district of the city, which is home to Frankfurt Zoo and the Main River as well as the headquarters of financial service companies and banks. Trams run directly past the hotel into the city center, and the nearest underground station is less than a five-minute walk away. Frankfurt Cathedral and the Museum of Modern Art are around a half-hour walk away. The airport is a 15-minute drive from the hotel or around 35 minutes on public transportation.

Rooms

Cool and quirky decor in themed rooms

The 25hours Hotel The Goldman continues its theme of fun and flamboyance in its 97 individually decorated rooms. Expect bright colors with matching walls and carpets and plenty of fun touches, such as heavy metal-themed lamps and drums in place of bedside tables. Some rooms are inspired by local heroes and others by iconic New York imagery. Pillows are printed with slogans such as "let's spend the night together" and "almost home." All rooms have free Wi-Fi, iPod docks, and flat-screen TVs, and bathrooms are stylish with free, eco-friendly toiletries urging guests to turn the water off while using them. Street-facing rooms can be noisy, and not all rooms have air-conditioning, so it's worth taking a bit of time choosing the right room.

Features

Free Mini Cooper and bicycles for guests to use plus restaurant, bar, and meeting rooms

The hotel's standout amenity is its free Mini Cooper, which guests can borrow for free. There are also bicycles available to borrow for those who prefer two wheels or when the car isn't available. The on-site Goldman Restaurant serves Mediterranean cuisine in an environment that's a little more subdued than other areas of the hotel, with red and white decor and long, communal tables. There's an option for alfresco dining on the terrace when the weather cooperates. A buffet breakfast is served for a fee at the on-site Oost Bar, and there's also a lounge area. Newspapers are available in the lobby, and there are meeting rooms for business guests. Wi-Fi is free throughout the hotel.
