Bottom Line

Catering to mature couples and families, the three-and-a-half-pearl Suite Hotel Atlantis has a wide range of features, including seven pools, buffet restaurants, and a kids' club. There are three tennis courts on-site, plus a range of pool-based activities including water polo and aqua-aerobics. The 383 suites are fresh and modern, with minimalist furnishings and neutral decor, plus flat-screen TVs and air-conditioning. The exclusive and gated Premium Club offers adult-only facilities, though the adult-only Premium Club restaurant is in the main part of the hotel and isn't open for lunch. All-inclusive rates are available, though they generally exclude international liquor, and fees otherwise can add up. Travelers looking for a beachfront hotel with similar facilities might compare rates with sister property Gran Hotel Atlantis Bahia Real instead.

Suite Hotel Atlantis Fuerteventura Resort

Scene

Lively village-like resort with plenty to see and do, plus a separate Premium Club for adults only

This holiday village-style hotel draws much the same clientele as other properties in the area. Expect to see a mix of mature couples and families, though there are a few different vibes depending on where you end up in the resort. Everything was given a recent facelift before our 2017 visit, and the lobby, bedrooms, and new restaurants feel fresh. It's a big property, and outside of the Premium Club, things can feel a bit busy, with constant activity around the main pool, evening entertainment, and even a nightclub. Many guests in the Premium Club have also lamented having to leave their gated compound to dine, as it means traversing the often child-filled rest of the grounds. Even so, it's a good deal quieter in the Premium Club, so travelers wanting more peace and quiet -- and without kids in tow -- should opt for that part of the resort.

Location

Near downtown Corralejo, within a three-minute walk of the beach

The Suite Hotel Atlantis Resort is located in the center of Corralejo, the main town in Fuerteventura's north. It’s a three-minute walk from the hotel to the nearest beach, Playa Vista Lobos. There are plenty of shops, restaurants, and bars within easy reach, including a Hiperdino supermarket within the hotel’s own concourse. The popular Las Palmeras shopping center is a six-minute drive away. For families, a water park is about five minutes away by car, but it's opening hours are unpredictable. Regular ferries to Isla de Lobos depart from Corralejo's harbor, which takes about 10 minutes to reach by car. The island’s breathtaking Natural Park is a 14-minute drive away, where the fine sands of the Corralejo Dunes stretch for miles into the distance. A collection of beautiful beaches within the park are ideal for water sports. Fuerteventura's airport is around a 50-minute drive away.

Rooms

Modern suites with private balconies or terraces, seating areas, flat-screen TVs, and air-conditioning

This 383-room hotel was completely renovated in time for our 2017 visit, with modern Junior Suites spanning 42 square meters (452 square feet) of open-plan living and sleeping space. Natural light shines through the windows of these contemporary rooms, where minimal furnishings and neutral color palettes feel spacious and even a bit beachy. All units feature double beds -- not two singles -- and living areas have sofabeds, coffee tables, desks and chairs. Furnished balconies or terraces with reclining loungers come with all units. Amenities include air-conditioning, mini-fridges, electric kettles, flat-screen TVs, and telephones. Both Wi-Fi and safe rentals incur charges in regular Junior Suites. Free bottled water is provided on arrival. Bathrooms include bathtubs or showers, hairdryers, and toiletries.

Premium Junior Suites are similar to Junior Suites, but their location in the adult-only Premium Club might be a real selling point for some travelers. These rooms come with access to Premium Club services including use of the lounge with free drinks, coffee, tea and pastries, early check-in and late check-out, and use of an adult-only pool with Balinese beds. These rooms also have free Wi-Fi, minibars, pillow menus, plus bathrobes and slippers.

Features

Seven pools, three tennis courts, and two restaurants, though all-inclusive rates can be restrictive

This hotel has an extensive range of facilities, including seven swimming pools, three tennis courts, and two restaurants. In the main pool, activities include water polo, aqua-aerobics, and aqua gym, while at the relaxation pool and plaza pool the atmosphere is quieter. A family pool is particularly popular because the pool bar is nearby for daytime drinks and snacks. The hotel has three artificial tennis courts that can be used for free. Coaching is also available, but incurs an extra charge.

In the past, the hotel faced complaints about ongoing building work, but renovations were finished during our 2017 visit, and the upheaval appears to have been worth it. The attractive Atrium restaurant serves evening meals with a Spanish theme on an all-inclusive basis. Reservations must be made. Gaudi, the second restaurant, serves a buffet of salads, fruit, meat platters, pasta, paella, smoothies, and desserts, that are included in all-inclusive rates. An adult-only seating area offers a quiet space for guests without children. Premium-level guests also have access to La Scala, an adult-only restaurant serving breakfast and dinner (but not lunch). This glass-fronted restaurant offers guests the flexibility of a buffet starter and a la carte main course. Keep in mind that La Scala is located in the main part of the resort, not within the Premium Club's grounds.

The hotel has a selection of bars to choose from near the pool, terrace, or lobby. The main bar is quite traditional, with dark wooden furnishings and an adult-only area upstairs, plus a terrace overlooking the courtyard. The Connect poolside bar serves drinks throughout the day as part of all-inclusive rates, and has charging points underneath the bar for mobile phones. Keep in mind that all-inclusive rates don't cover many international liquors, and extras like poolside ice cream -- even at the Premium Club pool -- may incur extra charges upon checkout.

Evening entertainment takes place in the theater, though it was quite dated during our 2017 visit. The large curtained stage hosts a different show every night. Options include cabaret shows, discos, and karaoke. A main courtyard area is alternatively filled with flat-screen TVs that can seat around 100 people.

The hotel offers a variety of child-friendly facilities including a large outdoor children's area with two swimming pools, and playground with soft sandy floor. There's a mini-club for younger children with crafts, treasure hunts, and themed days, and a teens lounge for 13 to 17 year olds, with a cinema room and Playstation.
