NH Collection Santiago de Compostela

Attracting business guests and tourists in equal measure, the NH Collection Santiago de Compostela is a clean-cut and contemporary hotel clad in gray slate. Its expansive, zen-like lobby is divided up by dark wooden shelves into smaller sections with brown and earthy green sofas, and accented by pebble accents in the floor, bamboo-filled vases, and striking busts of expressive men. The lobby leads seamlessly to the hotel’s bar, which has a pleasant outdoor courtyard terrace overlooking the sleek pool surrounded by a lush lawn. Meanwhile, the hotel’s restaurant has warm wooden floors and gray crushed velvet banquettes with lime green accents. Though interiors have some warm accents, the mostly neutral tones, dark wood and stone, and low lighting give the hotel a moody vibe that may be gloomy to some.

The NH Santiago de Compostela is a little outside the medieval center of town, a 15-minute walk or six-minute drive to the cathedral that Santiago is built around. The cathedral is also the endpoint of the eponymous pilgrimage, the Camino de Santiago, and it's surrounded by a number of historic sites and museums, as well as shops, bars, and restaurants. Farther away, the city of A Coruna is an hour’s drive away, while Vigo is an hour in the other direction. It's a 15-minute drive to Aeroporto de Santiago De Compostela or about 45 minutes to A Coruna Airport.

The hotel’s 150 rooms are sleek and contemporary, decorated with dark-wood floors and furniture, white walls, canopied beds with white linens, and a pop of green in either rugs or suede-covered closet doors. Standard Rooms have space for bench at the foot of the bed, coffee table, desk, built-in closet, and a stylish cabinet with a glass porthole. Premium Rooms are larger, featuring a small separate sitting room with couches and armchairs, while Suites have a similar but far bigger lounge space. Contemporary bathrooms have lots of frosted glass and dark wood, and are well-equipped with bidets and shower/tub combos, and Suites add hydromassage shower cubicles. All rooms have free Wi-Fi, a flat-screen TV, safe, minibar, kettle and a coffee machine. Also provided are a bathrobe, hairdryer, and free toiletries. 

The NH Collection Santiago de Compostela has a range of amenities to keep both business guests and tourists satisfied. The hotel's business center consists of six meeting rooms, the largest of which can seat 350 people. Meanwhile, the spa and salon offers beauty treatments and massages, and a small but decently equipped gym with treadmills, cross-trainers, and bicycles, as well as weight machines and free weights. The gym looks out over the hotel’s sizable indoor pool, which is separated by a window from the seasonal outdoor pool, which has loungers on the deck and lush lawn. Guests rave about the expansive and quality breakfast buffet, while the Azabache restaurant serves Mediterranean food with a Galician focus. Drinks and snacks are served throughout the day at the bar, which has a pleasant outdoor terrace. Parking is available on-site, but there's a hefty daily fee for it. Free Wi-Fi is accessible everywhere on the property.
