Bottom Line

The 99-room Melia Genova is an upmarket hotel filled with fine Italian marble, smart Art Deco touches, and modern pieces by renowned Italian artists. The hotel has an imposing facade and interiors are understatedly luxurious. Set in a quieter neighborhood away from "Old Town" Genova, the hotel is still within walking distance of many major attractions. Rooms are fresh and bright with marble bathrooms. The spa might be a little small for an upscale property -- the similarly swank Grand Hotel Savoia on the other end of town is a good alternative.

Melia Genova

Scene

Polished hotel with imposing facade and stylish interiors

The Melia Genova has an imposing, polished marble facade. Designed in 1929 by local architect Giuseppe Crosa di Vergagni, the building continues to impress in the lobby with a patterned marble floor centerpiece, marble walls, and leather banquettes. An atmosphere of 1920's luxury and style continues in the hotel's gorgeous stairwell, with even more marble and Art Deco railings. Polished chrome elevators carry visitors to one of the property's six floors. Original art by famous Italian artist Silvio Wolf completes the scene of hushed modern elegance.
