Bottom Line

The 26-room Number 10 Hotel is an upper-middle-range boutique property set in a Victorian building on the south side of Glasgow overlooking Queen's Park. Rooms are homey, but modern, with varying decor and period architectural elements such as fireplaces and stained glass windows. The hotel serves a daily traditional Scottish breakfast (for a fee), and the restaurant serves a lovely afternoon tea set and excellent, locally sourced, up-market pub fare. This is a popular venue for weddings and events, with an outside terrace, gazebo, and private gardens, but guests looking to stay within walking distance of downtown Glasgow's sights and historic attractions may want to look elsewhere. ABode Glasgow has chic, four-pearl rooms in the heart of the city at slightly higher rates.

Number 10 Hotel

Scene

Victorian boutique hotel with mix of original period features and contemporary elements

As guests pull up along the hotel's circular drive, they are greeted with landscaped gardens, outdoor tables, and surrounding views of Queen's Park. Guests are a mix of leisure travelers, including many families, plus those attending on-site events and a few business travelers. The entrance of the hotel is a sun room with floor-to-ceiling windows and a classic black-and-white checkered floor. The on-site bar and restaurant is a modern, light-filled space with a cozy dining area lined by stone walls, gray bench-style seating, and felt-backed chairs. Overall, this property has the feel of a peaceful, country retreat within striking distance of Glasgow's city attractions.

Rooms

Contemporary or Victorian rooms, some with whirlpool tubs, fireplaces, or terraces

The 26 rooms at the Number 10 Hotel include a mix of Standard Rooms, Executive Club Rooms, Honeymoon Suites, and Disabled Access Rooms. Some rooms include Victorian period features like ornate ceiling molding, and many have fireplaces, terraces, or stained glass windows. Standard Rooms are modern, with attractive light gray walls contrasted by dark accent walls and dark furniture. There is odd velvet bunting along the top of headboards that looks out of place, but matches the bed runners on duvet-covered beds. Higher category bookings show more period accents and feel much more expansive and elegant, with bright yellow walls and rich drapes plus vintage leather seating in some rooms. All rooms have flat-screen TVs, electric kettles, and irons. Bathrooms vary in decor, with larger Executive Room bathrooms sporting whirlpool spa baths, and more modest Standard Rooms featuring freestanding showers. Bathrooms all have toiletries, though the tan tile on floors and walls isn't the most stylish we've seen.
