Jurys Inn Cheltenham

Jurys Inn Cheltenham is housed in an unimpressive three-story brick building that’s made a bit more attractive by green manicured lawns and a furnished outdoor patio surrounded by trees and bushes. Part of the Jury’s Inn brand that includes hotels across the UK, Ireland, and the Czech Republic, this property is currently undergoing renovation efforts on its first floor (as of Fall 2016), with renovations planned on the bar and coffee bar soon after. Guest room renovations were also completed in 2016. 

Interiors feature a contemporary design that's pleasant, if chain-like. The spacious lobby has a long front desk and gray carpet with colorful circular patterns, while a couple of armchairs provide seating. Guests can also relax in a charming coffee bar situated in a sunlit atrium space, furnished with an array of comfortable seating and with access to an outdoor patio. The restaurant is quite trendy with a printed purple carpet, funky hanging chandeliers, and booths and chairs with striped velour padding. Overall, the place has a fairly corporate vibe and a predictable style, but it's a solid choice with plenty of amenities that attract both business travelers utilizing the on-site meeting rooms, as well as families and couples on vacation.

Jurys Inn Cheltenham is located on the western outskirts of the city, too far away to reach the center on foot, but within a 10-minute drive of its shops and restaurants. The hotel is best suited for those with a car as there’s not much within walking distance and few dining options on surrounding streets. There’s a bus stop that’s four minutes away from the property, giving access to the city center in 13 minutes. It’s about a 15-minute drive to Cheltenham Racecourse, while Gloucester and its cathedral can be reached in about the same time. London's Heathrow International Airport is an hour-and-a-half to two hours away by car, while the city is about a two-hour drive. 

These stylish, contemporary rooms underwent a makeover in 2016 and have a sleek, fresh look. Decor in most rooms includes striped carpets, turquoise statement walls, modern chairs and loveseats, trendy art pieces, and ash-gray wood headboards. The Suites are a bit more upscale, with a cream-and-beige color scheme paired with dark wood furniture, as well as chic wingback headboards and funky silver lamps. Standard amenities include flat-screen TVs, free Wi-Fi, safes, and kettles. Some rooms have air-conditioning, though none have minibars. Clean, sleek bathrooms offer plenty of counter space, as well as shower/tub combos, hairdryers, and toiletries, while Suites have separate glass showers and jetted tubs.  

The highlights of the hotel are definitely its leisure facilities, which include an indoor heated pool, hot tub, sauna, and steam bath. There’s also a well-equipped fitness center with a cardio room and a weight room with mirrored walls, free weights, and weight machines. Guests can take advantage of two outdoor tennis courts as well.

On-site dining options include the hotel’s Burford Room Restaurant, which serves dinner, while the bar has European and British light bites throughout the day, as well as drinks. A breakfast buffet with hot and cold items is available for a fee. There’s also a coffee bar with an outdoor patio. Room service is available during limited hours. Note that some complaints have been made about a shortage of wait staff and poor service in the dining areas. 

Business guests can take advantage of 12 fully equipped meeting rooms, plus there's free Wi-Fi throughout the property. Parking is offered but costs a fee.
