Bottom Line

This charming upper-middle-range boutique hotel is located within a short walk of Cheltenham’s city center. With a stylish blend of contemporary and vintage furnishings, the property offers an elegant lounge to relax in, while its 13 attractive guest rooms are equipped with modern comforts like minibars, flat-screen TVs, Nespresso machines, and chic bathrooms. There’s not much in the way of features beyond a free basic breakfast buffet, an honesty bar, and a stylish lounge, but the property can arrange a free taxi to its sister hotel for dinner. Other thoughtful and attentive details include pre-breakfast refreshments delivered to rooms and turndown service. For something with more features, check out Ellenborough Park, a luxurious country estate with an on-site restaurant, spa, pool, and fitness center -- though rates are often higher.

No 38 The Park

Scene

Modern boutique hotel with chic, rustic decor and a romantic vibe

No. 38 The Park is a charming boutique hotel set in a beautiful white Georgian town house. It offers a few stylish public spaces, like the chic lobby lounge that has a vintage vibe, with weathered wooden floors, tiered chandeliers, and roll-arm sofas nestled around a fireplace. A few metallic and industrial touches, like a coffee table with hairpin legs, keep things from getting cutesy. The hotel's dining room has a lovely skylight that illuminates wooden pedestal tables, emerald-green banquettes, and leather  chairs with nailhead trim. Breakfast can be served on the outdoor patio, which has plenty of shade. The honesty bar is housed in a trendy room with a communal wooden table, green leather chairs, a fireplace, and a flat-screen TV -- a perfect space for mingling. Take note that the hotel doesn’t have an elevator, which might not suit guests with mobility issues. Though the property mostly attracts couples on a romantic getaway, it can also be rented entirely for events, parties, or large groups.

Rooms

Romantic rooms with flat-screen TVs, Nespresso machines, minibars, and turndown service

Rooms at No 38 The Park are romantic and stylish, with elegant contemporary decor. No two are exactly the same, but all share similar features, like beds topped with Egyptian cotton linens and turquoise or blue blankets, carpets or wooden floors, chic lamps, and padded headboards. There are plenty of exquisite details like antique radiators and slipper tubs from the 1800s. The amenities are top-notch too, including flat-screen Loewe TVs with Sky entertainment and Apple TV’s library of movies, free Wi-Fi, Nespresso machines, minibars, and snacks. A turndown service that includes warm milk and hot-chocolate sticks doesn’t hurt either. Bathrooms are spacious and beautiful, with exquisite tiling. Like the rooms, each bathroom is different; some have open showers with waterfall showerheads, while others sport large antique porcelain tubs. Hairdryers, robes, and 100 Acres toiletries are provided.
