The 88-room Red Feather Lodge provides a basic, low-cost, non-chain base for visiting the Grand Canyon. Rates are generally cheaper than the other hotels in Tusayan, the tiny gateway town to Grand Canyon National Park. There is a small outdoor pool with hot tub and free coffee and tea in the lobby. Rooms are small and simple, but fulfill the needs of budget-conscious travelers and those who couldn’t snag a room at one of the in-park properties. Wi-Fi is free, but can be spotty.

Large floor to ceiling windows provide ample light. The property is comprised of two buildings, the “hotel” which is newer, and the “motel” which is an older design. Both hotel and motel rooms have a chain hotel vibe, with small tube TVs.

Everything in Tusayan is within a short walk, including a National Geographic Visitor’s Center with an IMAX theatre. The entrance to Grand Canyon National Park is less than two miles up Highway 180.

There are small tube-style TVs, along with mini-fridges, coffeemakers, irons and ironing boards, and hair dryers. Bathrooms can be a tight fit in the motel rooms, while the hotel bathrooms are a bit bigger and have curtained shower/tub combos.
