The Westin Resort Guam

The Westin Resort Guam is an upscale modern hotel occupying a beachfront high-rise flanked by palms and pretty greenery. Interiors here are swish and contemporary, if chainlike, with an airy and sunlit 15-story atrium lobby that's all cream colors and greenery dotted about the space, including palm trees adorning a centerpiece water feature and flowers in vases here and there. Inviting sitting areas are scattered about the large space, which has a tranquil vibe.

Other public areas are equally inviting, such as Prego restaurant, a pleasant space with black-and-white photos lining the walls and simple wooden tables and chairs offering seating. Taste restaurant also displays a casual elegance, and Issin features Japanese simplicity.

Outdoor areas are the highlight, with an attractive pool deck peppered with palm trees and overlooking the beach. Direct access to a beautiful sandy beach is another plus and a big draw, which is why most guests here are tourists -- a mix of couples and families with kids. The hotel also attracts business travelers and caters to them with features like a business center, meeting rooms, and Executive Suites. 

This beachfront hotel sits on a stretch of sandy shore on Tumon Bay. There are several other hotels and dining options nearby, including an Outback Steakhouse across the street. It's a convenient location that's a short walk from shops and some attractions, including Tagada Amusement Park that's just across the street; Tarza Water Park, which is an eight-minute walk away; and Underwater World Aquarium, a six-minute walk from the hotel. T Galleria By DFS, Guam, a shopping mall with duty-free luxury brands, is a seven-minute walk away. Other area attractions include scenic Two Lovers Point (seven-minute drive away) and War in the Pacific National Historical Park (20-minute drive). Antonio B. Won Pat International Airport is about a 10-minute drive away.

There are several different categories of rooms here, including Deluxe Rooms, Club-level, Oceanfront, Executive and Royal Suites, and even a two-bedroom villa option. Rooms are spacious, but decorated with bland decor that could use a style update. Patterned carpeting is paired with dark wood furnishings like dressers, nightstands, upholstered headboards, and work desks. Chairs flanking a small round table provide seating, and glass sliding doors open onto balconies. Note that past guests have complained of maintenance and cleanliness issues.

Standard amenities include flat-screen TVs, mini-fridges, tea/coffee facilities, electronic safes, irons/ironing boards, and free Wi-Fi, but high-speed internet incurs a fee. Bathrooms, like the rooms, are typically chainlike, but they're clean. They're equipped with soaking tubs and separate walk-in showers; some suites have whirlpool tubs. Other bathroom amenities include magnifying mirrors, electronic toilets, hairdryers, toiletries, and bathrobes. 

Club-level rooms and Suites have access to the Club Lounge, which comes with perks like free non-alcoholic drinks and business services. Suites offer a lot more space, including separate living rooms with sofas.

The resort offers an array of features that add value and convenience to a stay. The outdoor pool is one of the highlights, with views over the beach and an attractive pool deck lined with loungers and dotted with palm trees and pretty greenery. There's a hot tub here too. Guests also have direct access to a lovely stretch of sandy beach, which offers loungers and day beds. Water sports like kayaking and snorkeling are available.

Dining options include an Italian restaurant, a Japanese restaurant, beachside barbecue fare, and an award-winning buffet. A buffet breakfast is available for a fee, plus 24-hour room service is available.  

Wellness facilities include a gym that's open 24/7 and a L'Occitane spa that offers massages, body treatments, and facials. Other amenities include a kids' club, business center, seven meeting rooms, and free on-site parking.
