Bottom Line

The Green Beach is a sprawling, mid-range, 479-room resort located a five-minute drive from the center of Gundogan. Its lovely sandy beach is a definitive highlight, but the hotel also features four pools -- including a small water park with slides -- and a pleasant spa with a Turkish bath, body treatments, and an indoor pool with a kiddy section. This family-friendly property is an inexpensive all-inclusive option, but it falls short on key aspects, including the food (which guests say can be repetitive), and in rooms, many of which have some maintenance issues and lack Wi-Fi. The Cactus Mirage Family Club, located closer to Yalikavak, offers better value overall.

Green Beach Resort

Scene

Family-friendly all-inclusive resort with a large seafront area and several pools

Set on 16.3 acres of pines and palm trees, the Green Beach Resort is a sprawling property popular among Turkish families. Its 479 rooms are housed in three separate buildings -- the main one is located at the top of the hill and features an elevator directly to the beach area, while the other two (known as the Club buildings) are situated at either end of the property. Located off a quiet street, the main entrance is cute and appealing, with plenty of colorful flowers and palm trees flanking a large white gate with several pillars. Exposed stone accents, fuchsia bougainvillea, and Italianate balustrades lend this property some Mediterranean charm, as do the whitewashed buildings with wooden accents.

The lobby is housed in an imposing five-story atrium with a huge skylight and exterior hallways. Tons of plants dot the central area, while thick pillars and long staircases with glass handrails make the property feel grander at first sight than it really is. However, despite partial renovations in 2016, the hotel is showing its age in some areas, especially in many rooms and the restaurants. The Green Beach is an average all-inclusive resort in terms of amenities and services, but its lovely seafront area -- complete with a small sandy beach and a long wooden platform with direct access to the water -- sets it apart from similarly priced resorts in the area.

Golturkbuku, known for its ritzy atmosphere and pretty beaches, can also be reached by car in about 15 to 20 minutes. The hotel is a half-hour drive from the lively town of Bodrum, with great historic sights and plenty of restaurants, bars, and shops. The hotel has shuttle service to Bodrum, but it is an extra charge. The airport is a 45-minute drive away.

Rooms

Rooms are spacious and light, but there have been reports of poor maintenance.

The hotel has 479 rooms spread over three buildings. Standard Rooms are found in all three sections, while the hotel’s eight Suites are housed in the main building, and the 38 Family Rooms in Club 2. All are spacious and light, with floor-to-ceiling windows that in most units open onto balconies with either garden or sea views, and enough space for a long desk and an armchair. Nevertheless, reports of poor maintenance and cleanliness issues are common, with leaking toilets, worn furniture, and dusty countertops.

Most units have simple, generic, and somewhat dated decor with wooden furniture, laminate or tiled floors, and a bland burgundy and beige color scheme. Others, however, have a slightly more contemporary style, with natural wood furniture, and aquamarine bed runners and accent pillows. In-room amenities are a little basic, and include mini-fridges, flat-screen TVs, and individually controlled air-conditioning. Wi-Fi is free but doesn’t reach most units. Bathrooms feature wither shower/tub combos or showers only, as well as hairdryers and a few basic toiletries.

Features

Beach, indoor and outdoor pools, spa, three restaurants, and ample sports facilities

The main draw at this resort is the seafront area, which features a small, incredibly narrow sandy beach with a few loungers, and a long wooden platform complete with additional seating and metal stairs to the water. The Green Beach also features four outdoor pools, including two large family-friendly ones, a water park with waterslides, and a fun kiddy pool with water features and slides. An additional indoor pool can be found at the spa, which also features a Turkish bath, a sauna, massage cabins, and a hair and nail salon.

Main meals are served at the buffet restaurant, and guests can have dinner once per stay at either of the two a la cartes, which serve Italian and Turkish cuisine. Reservations are required. The poolside and beachside bars offer an array of snacks, and the lovely tea garden -- set on a wooden deck shaded by eucalyptus trees -- serves hot and cold drinks. Fitness activities and games are offered daily outdoors, and there are several tennis, basketball and beach volleyball courts on-site. There is also a small fitness center with a handful of cardio and strength-training machines. Wi-Fi is free but generally only available in the lobby and some common spaces.
