Oriental Suites Hotel & Spa

Oriental Suites Hotel is located on a street of narrow four- and five-story buildings in a market area of Hanoi's Old Quarter. A wooden temple arch welcomes guests through its glass entrance. Inside, the reception area is done up in beige marble tiling, and decorated with elegant Vietnamese accents like lanterns, illuminated decorative screens, and ceramic lamps. A seating area is made up of elegant wooden sofas and armchairs upholstered in beige with bright floral-print pillows. Guests are received at the semi-circular reception counter with black marble countertops, which is illuminated by a cluster of gold-hued cylindrical lamps dangling from the ceiling. Overall, it's a small but charming hotel with stylish interiors that attracts mainly leisure travelers -- both couples or families -- that are drawn to the Old Quarter location and good value.  

Located in the middle of the Old Quarter, the hotel is situated on a busy street lined with clothing shops. This street is in the middle of the night market, which takes place every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday night. Many tourist attractions are within walking distance, and the hotel is well-situated for leisure travelers who want to explore the Old Quarter on foot.

Guest rooms vary in terms of their style, but all are spotlessly clean, elegant, and sporting a few nods to the local culture. Floors are covered in wood laminate, and walls painted in a warm cream color, with an accent wall covered in trendy patterned wallpaper. Colorful bed runners and pillows (in red, blue, lime green, or other bright hues) contrast the crisp white linens and add a burst of lively color. The traditional dark wood furniture is cut in simple lines, and the louvred doors of the wardrobes add a colonial touch to the decor. Soft mood lighting creates a warm and cozy atmosphere, and a few framed photographs on the walls add a decorative touch. 

All of the guest rooms and suites are air-conditioned and equipped with flat-screen TVs, free Wi-Fi, minibars, electric kettles, and safes. Two bottles of free mineral water and bowls of fruit are also provided in each room. The attached bathrooms are tiled in beige marble, and fitted with spacious walk-in showers and vessel sinks. Each also has toiletries, hairdryers, magnifying mirrors, and bathrobes. 

The 42 guest rooms are available as doubles and twins, sleeping a maximum of two guests. Interconnecting rooms are also available for families. Some rooms have balconies, while others don't even have a window. Also, some of the rooms are a bit small, measuring only 215 square feet (20 square meters), while the suites do not include separate living areas.

As expected for a small property the Oriental Suites has few features compared to the area's mega-hotels, but what it does, it does well. A buffet-style breakfast is provided with a large selection of hot and cold dishes like omelets, Vietnamese pho noodles, and Vietnamese-style coffee. The hotel's on-site restaurant is open for lunch and dinner, serving a menu of local cuisine. A pleasant sauna and relaxation space is located on the top floor. Here guests can have massages and beauty treatments for an extra fee. Other services include bicycle rentals and a laptop rental service. Free parking is available at a location nearby. Wi-Fi is free and available throughout the hotel.
