Located inside the CNIT shopping mall in the Paris business district of La Defense, the 148-room mid-range Hilton Paris La Defense serves a lot of business travelers. The hotel, though, looks dated when compared with the ultra-contemporary mall that houses it, and guests have complained about wear and tear in the rooms, spotty in-room Wi-Fi (which comes with a fee), faulty outlets, malfunctioning TVs, and slow elevators, but praise the size of the rooms and the comfort of the beds. While the location is not the Paris of charm and animated street life, the hotel is within walking distance of the La Defense transportation hub, where travelers can catch the RER A or the metro Line 1, and be in central Paris in about 20 minutes -- both lines shoot straight down the Champs-Elysees. Note that the Hilton Paris La Defense often offers lower rates on the weekends, when the business travelers have left.
