Hampton Inn & Suites Hershey

This Hampton Inn stays busy with tourists visiting the popular Hershey attractions, but business travelers loyal to the Hampton brand patronize it, too. The lobby breakfast area is designed to accommodate the various families and groups who stay here. A long, dark wood table with several chairs centers the dining area, a nice place for extended or multiple families to dine together. A trio of oval, modern chandeliers is suspended above the table, emitting a warm glow. Clusters of smaller tables that seat two or four surround the center table with copper and blue chairs. There are columns and partial walls separating some tables to create quiet and more private spaces for those who seek them. An adjacent living room-like area with a gold sofa and chairs is positioned in front of a flat-screen TV surrounded by framed, black-and-white nature photos. The lobby, like the hotel itself, is casual, warm, and inviting. 

The Hampton is near downtown, within a brief drive of most major attractions in Hershey. It sits on a relatively quiet stretch of the main thoroughfare, East Chocolate Avenue, adjacent to the back of the Hershey Country Club and the entrance to the Spring Creek Golf Course. A few restaurants, shops, and pubs are within a brief walk of two or three minutes, and many more are only a few minutes away by car.

Beige carpets in square patterns and beige and light brown drapes contrast the off-white painted walls. Matching furniture of reddish-brown wood includes headboards, dressers, desks, and armoires (not in all rooms). Some rooms have crimson armchairs, while others have dark brown striped sleeper sofas. Comfortable beds are topped by bright white duvets accented with maroon skirts. The rooms are spacious and clean. Standard room options include one king, two queens, or two queen beds with a sleeper sofa. Each one king Suite has a jetted tub with a sitting area. And the Studio king option has sleeper sofas and kitchenettes with full refrigerators, stove tops, and dishwashers. The two-room king Suites have kitchenettes, sleeper sofas, and a second flat-screen TV. Amenities in all rooms include mini-fridges, microwaves, and coffeemakers, plus flat-screen TVs, free Wi-Fi, and lap desks. Bathrooms are a touch more elegant than the usual Hampton Inn, with polished marble vanities, floors, and walls framing the shower/tub combos. On the downside, guests report that the walls are on the thin side, making it possible to hear conversations in adjacent rooms. The hotel is generally quiet, but rooms in the front facing the busy road hear more street noise. Views are generally of the busy street or hotel grounds, but some rooms face the interior courtyard. 

For a budget property, the Hampton Inn & Suites Hershey has a broad list of features. A free hot breakfast is included in room rates, with items like oatmeal and waffles, as are grab-and-go breakfast sandwiches. An interior courtyard with tables and chairs provides an alternative to the dining room. Free coffee, tea, and hot chocolate are available in the lobby throughout the day. A 24/7 convenience store sells sundries, snacks, beverages, and frozen, ready-to-microwave entrees. 

The fitness center has a few cardio machines and free weights. The heated indoor pool area has an adjacent whirlpool and tables and chairs, although it lacks loungers. A game room offers several video and arcade-style games, a bonus for kids. The business center has two computer stations with Internet access and free printing, and there is one small meeting room. Free Wi-Fi is accessible throughout the property. Valet dry cleaning and laundry services are available, and coin laundry facilities are on-site. A safe deposit box is at the front desk, and an ATM is in the lobby. Parking is free at the hotel’s surface lot. The entire hotel is non-smoking. Pets are allowed in select rooms for a surcharge.
