Bottom Line

The Marriott's location is its main draw -- right by the boardwalk on a beautiful, white-sand beach that can be seen from the pool and numerous rooms. Not all rooms boast a spectacular view though, and those who prefer their privacy may not love the glass-door bathrooms, but the Marriott is one of the nicer properties in the area. The rooms are a good size with flat-screen TVs, and the marble bathrooms are sleek and sexy. Plus, the beach- and boardwalk-facing pool (with Jacuzzi), lovely day spa, and modern fitness center are additional perks.

Hollywood Beach Marriott

Location

On the beach in Hollywood, Florida

Founded in 1925, Hollywood offers a more relaxed, quiet version of a beach vacation, especially compared to neighbors Fort Lauderdale and Miami. The city experienced a revival in the 1960s and another resurgence, with the building of shops, restaurants, and bars, is in progress today. Visitors come for the soft-sand beaches, and the boardwalk (which recently underwent a $14-million renovation) is a popular hangout along the beach, with some great people-watching opportunities.

  • 13-minute drive to Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport
  • 35-minute drive to Miami International Airport
  • 1-minute walk to the beach
  • 15-minute walk to Greene Street's snorkeling spots
  • 4-minute drive to Harrison Street, lined with hip cafes, galleries, and bars
  • 5-minute drive to Young Circle Park, an area with an outdoor amphitheater
  • 5-minute drive to Hollywood Boulevard's many shops
  • 20-minute drive to Fort Lauderdale
  • 27-minute drive to downtown Miami
