Bottom Line

Infinity Bay Spa and Beach Resort is a three-and-a-half pearl oceanfront property with an amazing beach on Roatan’s famous West Bay. The 145 air-conditioned villas and apartments are tropically decorated with ornately carved furniture, and come with kitchens or kitchenettes, flat-screen TVs with cable channels, and private balconies or patios. Breakfasts are included with all stays and the beachfront a la cart restaurant gets great reviews. The hotel’s grounds are meticulously maintained and the huge ocean-view infinity pool has a walk-up pool bar, ocean views, and tons of lounge chairs. Hotel amenities include a small casino with slot machines, a dive shop, free kayak rentals, and free welcome massages and cocktails. For a slightly more luxe stay with a breathtaking beach, beautiful pool, and big rooms (some with ocean views) and full kitchens, it’s worth pricing out Grand Roatan Caribbean Resort.

Infinity Bay Spa and Beach Resort

Scene

Tropical resort with manicured grounds and laid back vibe

Infinity Bay is one of the poshest resorts in West Bay. The resort opened in 2007 and its marble-floored, double-high ceilinged lobby is dark despite the brass chandeliers and recessed lights. The hotel is setup like a horseshoe with guest-room buildings framing a meticulously manicured grassy field (used for events and weddings) and a huge freshwater infinity pool with ocean views and lots of lounge chairs. There are also a few tables with umbrellas. The hotel’s beautiful beach has lots of lounge chairs, but often fills up with cruise ship day trippers who pay for day passes to the resort. (The entire West Bay Beach, not just at Infinity Bay, gets pretty overrun with people and vendors on cruise ship days). It’s also a short swim to the off-shore reef for amazing snorkeling (or shore dives). We heard reports that the live music at the beachfront bar/restaurant can get loud, but in general the resort’s vibe is relaxed and tranquil. Infinity Bay attracts mostly Canadian couples, but also draws a few people from the United States and Central America. It's not a family-focused resort, but families are a common sight.

Location

Oceanfront resort at the end of West Bay Beach, close to diving and snorkeling

Infinity Bay is located near the end of West Bay, a gorgeous white sand beach with a snorkeling and diving reef 30-feet from the shoreline. A five-minute walk from the resort is a small pharmacy, mini-market, cigar shop, and an ATM. Restaurants and bars line the beach near the resort and serve international, Italian, Honduran, and Argentinian cuisines (all within a five- to 10-minute walk away). West End, the island’s nightlife and dining hub full of restaurants, bars, dive shops, and souvenir shops, is a 12-minute drive. The island’s commercial heart, Coxen Hole, has supermarkets, restaurants, and the cruise terminal; it's a 27-minute drive away. There’s an 18-hole golf course on the other side of the island that’s a 51-minute drive from Infinity Bay. The ferry to Utila, the nearby Honduran barrier island with amazing diving, is a 15-minute drive followed by a 40-minute boat ride. The jetty for ferries to La Ceiba on the Honduran mainland is a 40-minute drive followed by an hour-and 15-minute ferry. Juan Manuel Galvez International Airport is about a half-hour drive from the resort.

Rooms

Air-conditioned villas and apartments with kitchens or kitchenettes and flat-screen TVs

Rooms at Infinity bay are a mix of air-conditioned one-, two-, or three-bedroom villas and studio apartments. All units are individually owned and managed by the resort and a bit different from each other. That said, the villas are the choicest option with multiple balconies, full kitchens with GE stainless-steel appliances, coffeemakers with free coffee, blenders, and colorful Fiestaware dishes. Furniture is tropically inspired and neutral toned, made with a mix of materials like bamboo, hardwoods, and glass. Expect plush couches or love seats, sofa beds, spotty free Wi-Fi, safes, ironing equipment, and flat-screen TVs with cable channels. Rooms have either one king bed or two queen-size beds with hardwood headboards and carved palm tree accents. The apartments are more basic rooms with kitchenettes, microwaves, and some balconies. All bathrooms have granite counters and marble walls with glass-brick stand-up showers. Shampoo, conditioner, body lotion, bar soap, and hairdryers are included with all rooms. Views range from garden to pool or ocean.
