The Mingle Place On The Wing is a 47-room, value boutique hotel in the heart of Hong Kong island's busy Sheung Wan district. While in-room technology features are impressive -- think Skype phones and free movies -- most rooms are small and showing signs of wear. Overall, although lots of thought went into the hotel's concept, there's not much in the way of substance or facilities. However, the location is great for being right in the thick of things, with the SoHo and Central districts within easy walking distance.While farther from the subway, the nearby Hotel LBP is a better option in the same price bracket.

Despite its sleek and contemporary facade and jazzy signage, once inside the oddly named Mingle Place On The Wing there's little that impresses. The lobby area is cramped and often cluttered with luggage, and as the reception desk that can only service one guest at a time, check-in can be slow. A single elevator transports guests to one of 12 floors, each with decor and artwork illustrating the changing of the seasons throughout the year, while four room types are meant to depict the stages of life development. Besides the tiny reception there's nothing in way of common areas, lounges, or terrace space, which can give the place a claustrophobic feel. The third in a chain of boutique hotels opened by the Intexact Group, the hotel is aimed at young professionals, though it tends to attract budget travelers and backpackers.
