Apartamentos Llobet

The mid-range Apartamentos Llobet is a family-run spot that rubs right up against a small beachfront in Figueretas Beach. The hotel's entrance is tucked off the main road at the back of a strip mall and may be hard to find, especially for those following a GPS. The surrounding area is busy but relaxed, and it has a heavier local vibe than other nearby tourist spots. The building is old but in decent condition, and thanks to a 2009 total renovation, it has a smart and contemporary look with charming decor like a chalkboard wall and the owner's original Fiat 600D. 

Expect a stuffy AC-free lobby in warmer months, outdoor hallways, and mostly families, couples, and friends of all ages roaming the grounds. This is not typically a party hotel and is more family-oriented, so for anyone looking to be in the middle of the party action, it's worth checking out digs at the Bora Bora Apartments in Playa D'en Bossa. 

Be aware that this property is closed from January to mid-March. 

This hotel has an excellent beachfront location on Figueretas Beach between Ibiza Town and Playa D'en Bossa. Most hotels in the immediate area are apartment-style and several neighboring buildings are actual apartment buildings, giving the immediate area a busy but local feel. Several restaurants, shops, stores, ATMs, and other points of interest are within a few minutes' walk from the hotel.

All 40 of Llobet's apartment-style units have the same layout, contemporary decor, and small balcony with views either of the sea or garden courtyard. Renovations in 2016 brought fresh white paint to the walls, new bedding and white bed frames, and modern neutral-tone cushioned furniture in living spaces. Terra-cotta tile floors and pastel-mint paint in the kitchens help the spaces feel bright and welcoming, while vibrant photo murals bring in a bit of colorful local life. 

Aside from the views, the only real difference between the apartments is that fourth-floor units have shower/tub combos, while all other floors have shower-only bathrooms. Conveniences include bedsides chargers and reading lamps, AC, free Wi-Fi shared with one neighboring unit, and small hall closets with brooms. Kitchenettes are small and basic, equipped with tiny microwaves, kettles, large mini-fridges lacking freezers, and two-burner electric hobs. There are also small dining room tables for four, phone for incoming calls and dialing reception only, and small flat-screen TVs in the living rooms. 

The coastline in the immediate area is more rock than sand, but, for anyone hoping to snag a lounger in the sand, Apartamentos Llobet is ideally located across from one of the larger sandy beach areas in town. Inside the tiny triangular (and public) space, guests will find rentable loungers at reasonable rates and some space to throw down towels. Beach kits consisting of towels, parasols, and bags are available from the front desk for a large deposit. 

The features of Llobet show their face right from the get-go, starting with free welcome champagne at check-in. Another freebie is the hot and cold breakfast buffets with an omelet station, served in a private area off the restaurant. ALL is the on-site restaurant, and it has a casual and contemporary beachfront cafe vibe and serves up affordable Mediterranean dishes (and popular set lunch menus) in a bright interior terrace or out on the sidewalk across from the sea. ALL's menu has marked certified celiac-friendly, vegan, and dairy-free options (a rare find for Ibiza). 

The private outdoor pool area is a favorite among guests who like the big pool's six-foot depth, longer-than-usual length, and shallower, sectioned-off kids' section. The terra cotta-style tiles give it a slightly dated feel, while the palm trees and sea breeze help keep the vibe relaxing. A rooftop sundeck has distant castle views, the sound of the ocean, and loungers set atop a fake-grass floor. Anyone who ventures up here can also catch a glimpse of the hotel's solar panels that help power about 50 percent of the hotel. An on-site gym is outfitted with Lifestyle machines and free weights, plus it's open late. 

Extended checkouts until 1 p.m. are free, but those willing to pay extra can stay in their rooms until a surprising 6 p.m. Otherwise, there's a free shower room off the lobby. Guests can also expect standard mid-range amenities like bike rentals, a guest services desk, daily housekeeping, a business center with free printing, and free Wi-Fi. Parking in the hotel's garage down the street costs extra, so it's worth scoping out the public parking on nearby streets. 

Family-friendly features include a kids' menu in the restaurant, free baby beds on request, and babysitting services for added fees. This is a pet-friendly property with a per-day, per-pet fee that also covers a pet bed and bowl. While not encouraged, owners can leave their well-behaved pets in the rooms alone. Wi-Fi is free throughout the property.
