Bellamar Hotel Beach & Spa

Arriving at the five-story Bellamar Hotel, guests are met with a crisp whitewashed facade and stone steps leading to the entrance. Inside, the lobby's red couches, wood paneling, and green-and-white flooring with a star pattern are quite dated, as are hallways with two-tone carpeting and floral curtains by the staircase. However, original artworks and photographs on the walls are welcoming. Despite its proximity to bustling nightlife, the vibe here is relaxing and primarily attracts vacationing couples. 

The hotel is located on a relatively quiet street set just a couple of minutes' walk from the sandy beach of Es Pouet, which overlooks the Bay of San Antonio. There are scatterings of beach shops and restaurants in the immediate area, though the neighborhood is mostly calm with few bars or clubs. A pleasant bayside promenade starts from the beach and curves up toward the livelier parts of San Antonio, which include the party areas of West End and the Sunset Strip -- about a five- to 10-minute drive away. Ibiza Town and its airport are both 20 minutes away by car.

The hotel's 153 rooms are a colorful and pleasant (though not particularly stylish) mix of striped fabrics, simple wood furnishings, and original artworks. All have glass doors that slide open to furnished terraces -- some featuring sea views, while others overlook air-conditioning units. Amenities include tea/coffee facilities, mini-fridges, safes, free Wi-Fi, and 32-inch flat-screen TVs with satellite channels (including some British). Bathrooms are straightforward, with shower/tub combos, wall-mounted hairdryers, and hotel-brand toiletries; superior rooms and suites add whirlpool tubs. 

The Bellamar Hotel has a solid list of features for vacationing couples, but not many for families with young children. In addition to the nearby beach, outdoor facilities include a sun terrace housing a decent-size swimming pool with a shallow section, and a small hydromassage pool. The area lacks greenery, but it has plenty of loungers and views of the sea. The hotel's spa offers a heated indoor pool with counterflow jets, as well as a whirlpool tub, Finnish sauna, and range of massage treatments (though access to these facilities is not free). There's also a small but functional gym with cardio and weight-training equipment, and limited free weights. A free buffet breakfast with a cooked-to-order egg station is served in the hotel's main restaurant. A half-board option also includes a buffet dinner, though the on-site steakhouse provides higher-quality dining.
