Poolside DJ sessions, a top-notch restaurant, a famous nightclub, and a gorgeous all-white rooftop lounge with panoramic sea views make this one of the most sought-after hotels in Ibiza. Though many rooms are on the small side, decor is stylish, and amenities are up to date, including flat-screen TVs, minibars, free Wi-Fi, and air-conditioning; some have balconies with gorgeous views. All this style and cool atmosphere doesn’t come cheap, but the vast majority of guests agree that the experience is worth every dollar. Scene
A hip, chic, upscale boutique with a famous nightclub and daytime pool scene
An Ibiza icon, the 52-room Hotel Es Vive is a small, upscale, Art Deco boutique with lots of style. Constant upkeep is apparent throughout and sleek room design by Sean Cochrane has kept the hotel among the most hip in Ibiza, with the occasional celebrity attending its famous parties at on-site Experience Bar, and young, well-off couples and groups of friends lounging by the pool. Es Vive is housed in a beautiful white building with aquamarine accents and a recognizable white wooden gate that opens onto the manicured grounds. Its sophisticated interiors -- with refined furniture and sleek finishes -- is reminiscent of the most chic South Beach hotels in Miami. A jet-black front desk stands out against the white walls and light gray floors, while three small crystal chandeliers are nods to the Art Deco design throughout, which continues into the rooms. This property attracts a well-heeled, chic crowd who are drawn as much by the scene as by the design.
Location
A block from Figueretas beach and a short drive from nightlife in Playa d’en Bossa
Hotel Es Vive is located on a quiet one-way street on the southern edge of Ibiza Town. There are a handful of casual restaurants and bars in the immediate vicinity, but nights are mostly quiet in the area (except for the well-known parties at the on-site club). Small but sandy Figueretas beach is just a two-minute walk down the street, and Playa d’en Bossa beach can be reached in about five to 10 minutes walking, though many guests choose to stay on-site during the day and enjoy the lovely outdoor pool and mellow DJ sessions. The airport and some of the island’s most famous clubs -- including Ushuaïa, Bora Bora, and Space -- are all located a 10-minute drive away.
Rooms
Small but snazzy rooms with Art Deco touches and up-to-date amenities
Es Vive’s 52 rooms are stylish and elegant, with beautiful herringbone floors, a black-and-white palette, and light gray accents in walls and closet doors. Crisp white bed linens with white pillows and cushions add light to the already bright spaces, and jet-black wood furniture and Chesterfield chairs behind black desks are chic touches. Most rooms are a bit small for the price, but big windows, large padded velvet headboards in dark tones or dove gray, and a light color palette add some visual space. Some rooms have aquamarine shutters opening on to balconies furnished with white chairs and loungers. All rooms were renovated in late 2014 and feature up-to-date amenities, such as flat-screen TVs, minibars, air-conditioning, safes, and free Wi-Fi. Suites have California king-size beds, jetted tubs, Elemis toiletries, and iPod docks. A few rooms have partial ocean views. Bathrooms are also smallish, but have great walk-in showers with rainfall showerheads, gray marble walls and countertops, and local toiletries.
Features
A hip pool, a small spa, a wonderful restaurant, an iconic nightclub, and a guests-only rooftop lounge -- but no fitness center
The heart of the action during the day is the hotel’s stylish pool. Mellow DJ sessions keep guests entertained, and the restaurant’s bar keeps drinks flowing. The atmosphere is relaxed, and the adult-only policy at Es Vive helps to keep the noise level at a minimum. Every day before sunset, the chic, all-white rooftop lounge fills with guests (non-guests are not allowed here) looking to take in the expansive sea views from a lounger with a drink in hand. But Es Vive's best-known feature, its iconic Experience Bar, is a nightlife hotspot open to locals and tourists alike and known for its night-long parties. The hotel’s only restaurant is Deco, a true destination unto itself. It serves brunch, cocktails, sandwiches, and salads during the day, and brasserie items paired with wines and Champagnes at night. The property does not have a full fitness center, but it does offer yoga on the rooftop terrace, and there's a small spa offering massages, facials, and waxing services. Additionally, the hotel offers car service for a fee, and freebies such as Wi-Fi and breakfast.
