Hotel Mirador de Dalt Vila

Formerly owned by a noble family and now part of the luxe Relais & Chateaux chain, Hotel Mirador is housed in a beautifully renovated early 20th-century town house. From the classic lobby to the quaint courtyard and the tastefully decorated rooms, the property oozes old grandeur and charm. Its classic, elegant spaces are dotted with centuries-old works of art and antiques, grandfather clocks, and chandeliers, with such details as seven varieties of marble and green onyx with precious stones worked in. A red carpet leads to the hotel’s 12 rooms, which have either balconies or terraces, and marble bathrooms. Most of the guests at this elegant, romantic property are couples, many of them returning guests, but families and solo travelers have also stayed here. 

The hotel is located at the end of a narrow, quiet street perched atop Dalt Vila, Ibiza’s historic center. Streets around the property are tiny and not easy to navigate, but there are plenty of restaurants and shops within easy walking distance. The city hall -- an old Dominican convent -- is down the street, and the Cathedral of Santa María is less than five minutes away on foot. There are a couple of art galleries nearby, and the Museum of Contemporary Art of Ibiza is within a three-minute walk of the hotel. There are no beaches within walking distance, so guests interested in exploring Ibiza’s multiple beautiful stretches of sand may want to rent a car or request car service at the front desk. The hotel offers free airport pick-up and drop-off service.

The hotel’s 12 rooms are stylish and elegant, with cream-colored rugs, beige armchairs, wooden floors, and a soft earth-tone palette. Many feature one-of-a-kind architectural details -- such as slanted ceilings or exposed wooden beams -- that add to their charm. Accent walls and sliding bathroom doors made of several kinds of wood add style, and the eclectic artwork gives rooms a fresh feel. Some rooms, especially the suites, are more ornate, and have beautiful antiques, original pieces, and standalone soaking tubs. All rooms include flat-screen TVs, free Wi-Fi, air-conditioning, safes, wonderfully stocked minibars, pillow menus, and Loewe or Bulgari toiletries. Bathrooms are luxurious in all units, with double sinks in most, and jetted tubs. The Grand Suite features a huge terrace with a hot tub, a second bathroom with a sauna, and fitness equipment, including a treadmill and an exercise bike, along with the period furnishings selected by the original owners of the town house.

Es Mirador is the hotel’s only full restaurant, serving Mediterranean cuisine with a modern twist in an elegant space with a painted vaulted ceiling and eclectic artwork on the walls. The cocktail bar is located right off the lobby, and has the same decor as the restaurant. La Enoteca Wine Cellar offers a wide array of regional and national wines. The charming (if tiny) courtyard, featuring several padded loungers and a tiny current pool, is a favorite gathering spot among guests. Aside from the gorgeous architecture and decor, what sets this property apart from other luxury hotels in Ibiza are its services, which include private yacht excursions, free airport transfers, butlers to unpack guests' bags, and evening turndown service complete with a sweet bite left in the fridge.
