Palladium Hotel Palmyra

Housed in a boxy white building, the Palladium Hotel Palmyra does not look much different from other hotels in the area. However, after extensive renovations in 2014, its interiors have a fresh feel, with overall elegant decor and a soft color palette of blues, beiges, and grays. Floor-to-ceiling windows make the spacious lobby bright and appealing, and dozens of couches and armchairs with colorful pillows allow guests to take in the serene sea views. Decor is overall classic, but the aquamarine and beige palette in some areas of the lobby add a casual, beachy touch. The Mediterranean restaurant has a similar feel, with classy gray and blueish accents, and contemporary wooden lamps. Rooms are a little bit more generic, but the turquoise and yellow touches give units a contemporary feel. This is an adults-only property, attracting couples and friends of all ages seeking a peaceful environment.

This property is located on Doctor Fleming, a two-lane avenue lined with hotels, fast food joints, and small shops selling beach gear. Although the avenue can be busy at times, it's a five- to 10-minute walk from the main party area of the island, and nights are mostly quiet here. Sant Antoni Bay, a long stretch of golden sand that runs parallel to Doctor Fleming, can be accessed through the hotel’s back door, located by the pool. The waters here are mostly clear, but stronger winds can sometimes bring muddy waters from the nearby port. Popular clubs such as Eden and Es Paradis are within a five-minute walk, and the Sunset Strip -- known for its famous nightlife spots such as Cafe del Mar and Cafe Mambo -- can be reached on foot in about 20 minutes. There is a bus stop down the street, and Ibiza Town and the airport are each a 20-minute drive away.

Rooms were fully renovated in late 2014, and all got new soundproofing and fresh decor. Streamlined wooden furniture is a touch generic, but sunburst mirrors and colorful bed runners in bright blue and mustard hues elevate the style. Long wooden desks provide a comfortable spot to check email, but Wi-Fi is only available for an extra charge. All units have flat-screen TVs, mini-fridges, safes, air-conditioning, electric kettles, and balconies with at least two small chairs, while suites have larger terraces with padded loungers and sea views in most. Bathrooms are simple with shower/tub combos and neutral tile. Aside from Standard Rooms, Junior Suites, and Suites -- which are all similar save for their size and a few added perks such as robes and slippers -- the hotel also offers bungalows, which have a lofted bedroom area and living space downstairs, as well as direct access to the pool.

The Palladium Hotel Palmyra has a medium-sized outdoor pool complete with a snack bar offering small bites and drinks. Although the pool is large enough for a few laps or a relaxing dip, the deck around it is a bit small for a hotel of this size, and many guests have complained of lack of loungers for everyone. A small gate to one side of the pool offers direct access to the beach. The hotel has two restaurants on-site -- an international buffet and a Mediterranean a la carte eatery -- and both get consistently good reviews from guests. Although the vibe at this adults-only property is generally quiet, the hotel offers an entertainment program during the day by the pool, and live shows in the lobby bar at night. The fitness center is housed in a spacious, sunny room with laminate floors, a few cardio and strength-training machines, and a flat-screen TV. The large ballroom can be divided into four smaller meeting rooms. Wi-Fi is available throughout the property, but guests must pay a fee to connect.
