Bottom Line

Luckily the presence of many hotel neighbors doesn't seem to disturb the relaxing vibe at Anastasis Apartments. The 11 large, apartment-style units have individualized contemporary decor and offer private balconies and kitchenettes. A welcome plus for many travelers: Anastasis Apartments is free of Santorini's typical (and tiring) cliff steps, making it great for anyone concerned with mobility issues. While there are bars and restaurants within easy walking distance of the Anastasis, keep in mind that most other mid- to upper-mid-range venues are set up for self-catering. If you want something more than just snacks on-site, you'll have to bump it up to a higher category.

Anastasis Apartments

Scene

Traditional architecture with urban elements and a relaxing, upscale vibe

A bit unassuming from the main road, Anastasis Apartments is marked by a sea green door within a stone and brick entrance. Its traditional Cycladic architecture is met with a few modern elements like green doors, wooden decks, and visibly landscaped grounds. The lobby is simple, featuring wooden floors and a small wooden desk within an arched alcove and a rack of rentable DVDs nearby. The lounge is a bit more upscale, with glossy tile floors, a large L-shaped leather couch around a fireplace, a flat-screen TV, and a small set of wooden table and chairs. This is also where the two-computer and printer business center can be found along with a collection of books for borrowing.

Outdoor decor is more lush with gardens and beautiful volcanic stone. The grounds are meticulously planned and maintained with succulents, palms, and potted plants popping up from red-pebbled plots. There's also a large wooden terrace with a white veranda and cushion-less sitting area overlooking the sea.

Location

Along the Imerovigli cliffs but lacking the steep steps Santorini is known for

Outside of the village itself, perched along the top of the famously scenic Imerovigli cliffs, Anastasis Apartments is surrounded by other like-minded properties taking in the caldera and sea views. Although the apartments are just outside of town, guests can easily reach a supermarket, restaurant, tavern, and bus stop within minutes by foot. Walks to the center of Imerovigli take about 15 minutes, while reaching Fira, less than two miles away, will take slightly longer. Trips on foot to the town of Oia, between four and five miles north, will require a couple of hours, but come with stunning panoramas. On the other hand, a car trip to Oia takes around 15 minutes. Getting to Santorini Airport is also about 15 minutes by car, while the sea port is seven and a half miles from the hotel.

Rooms

Large, contemporary rooms in several categories with kitchenettes and views

All 10 apartments -- and the property's one secluded, cliffside villa -- are large and individually decorated with contemporary style, ranging from tiled floors and natural wood furniture in the apartments to the marble floors and sleek black decor of the villa. Some suites are multi-level, and the villa's terrace has a lounge area and whirlpools. All units have undisturbed views of the caldera and Aegean Sea, particularly notable during sunset. Like most properties in the immediate area, the rooms are equipped with kitchenettes complete with dishes and utensils as well as coffeemakers and kettles. Bathrooms are spacious with marble floors and mosaic tile accents, and also come with luxury toiletries, bathrobes, and slippers.

Features

Plenty of outdoor space with an infinity pool and sundecks; snack service and separate spa area on hand as well

Clearly designed with relaxation in mind, Anastasis Apartments has plenty of spots for guests to relax and take in the views. There is a fairly large infinity pool overlooking the sea with two separate sun decks nearby (although they could probably use a few more loungers) which are part of a purposed outdoor relaxation area. And there’s a cave-like spa on-site with a full menu of traditional and holistic treatments as well as a small pool. The spa also has an eclectically tiled steam room and chairs for lounging.

A 24-hour concierge can provide information on excursions and/or car rentals, and currency exchange services are also available. Although the property doesn't have a full-service restaurant or bar on-site, there is snack service -- the hours and menu are limited -- and a free breakfast that can be served either on your room's private terrace or poolside.
