Bottom Line

Conveniently located just south of Jaipur Railway Station, Hotel Pearl Palace is a charming budget hotel that in many ways feels more like a mid-range boutique property. The 30 rooms here range from basic dorm rooms (guests can rent out whole dorms or just single beds) to snazzy and spacious air-conditioned Deluxe Rooms. Features include free Wi-Fi, clothing and jewelry shops, and laundry service, but the hotel's most attractive feature by far is its gorgeous Peacock Rooftop Restaurant, a two-story terrace restaurant with a large menu as well as room service. The hotel also offers free pick-ups from the bus and train stations, saving first-time visitors a lot of potential hassle. Travelers may also want to consider Sunder Palace Guest House nearby, which has similar amenities and is a tad mellower.

Charming budget hotel that feels more like a mid-range boutique property, with pretty frescoes throughout

Hotel Pearl Palace is a charming little budget hotel that in many ways feels much more like a mid-range boutique property owing to its gorgeous and well-maintained rooms and interiors. The entire property is a bit of a labyrinth, with various stairways leading to different levels where rooms are located, and intricately painted ceilings and wall frescos add a ton of Rajasthani charm to what at first glance looks like a forgettable modern concrete building. The lobby is particularly fantastic, with dark-wood floors and beautiful golden lotus patterns on the walls plus an eclectic mix of furniture, including a bronze-hued clawfoot coffee table and a glass display cabinet full of books. While all the common areas are lovely, the piece de resistance here is the gorgeous Peacock Rooftop Restaurant, which features two levels of covered and open-sky outdoor seating along with tons of potted plants and trees.

Location

South of M.I. Road, a short drive from the Pink City

Hotel Pearl Palace is located in an area just south of the main M.I. Road thoroughfare (where there are plenty of shops and restaurants). It's about a 15-minute walk or seven-minute drive from the Jaipur Railway Station; about an eight-minute drive to the historic Pink City; while getting to the main Gangori Bazaar and its surrounding historic attractions, including the City Palace, the Hawa Mahal, and the Jantar Mantar takes about 12 minutes by car. Also about a 12-minute drive away are both the Albert Hall Museum and the Birla Mandir, both of which are south of the Pink City. The airport is a 25-minute drive away from the hotel, traffic permitting. Factor in about half an hour by car for Amber and its famous namesake fort.

Rooms

A wide range of options, from simple dorms to Deluxe Rooms with AC

Hotel Pearl Palace offers a wide variety of inexpensive lodging options, from dorm beds clear up to Deluxe Rooms with air-conditioning and flat-screen TVs. Overall, rooms feel much more upscale than their budget-friendly rates indicate. All are individually decorated with a mix of local textiles and imported furnishings and have lovely decor features ranging from painted murals on the walls to lovely Rajashtani-style arches and alcoves matched with dark-wood furniture. Some are covered with beautiful tiling. Bathrooms are rather snazzy for a budget hotel, with vessel sinks and walk-in showers, some with rainfall showerheads. Notable downsides are that some rooms can experience noise from other guests, and even the higher-category units here lack typical in-room amenities such as electric kettles and safes.
