Wedding parties can crowd the property
The 132-room Radisson Blu Resort Goa Cavelossim Beach is an upper-middle-range hotel popular with families, and located a 10-minute walk from Cavelossim Beach. Like common areas, spacious rooms have Indo-Portuguese touches, plus flat-screen TVs, minibars, and kettles. Adults and kids have their own outdoor pool, and a kids' club has a game room. Dining options include a 24-hour buffet eatery, Indo-Portuguese spot, and Portuguese restaurant and bar with live music. A simple spa houses treatment rooms, a sauna, hot tub, and fitness center. A ballroom caters to functions, but frequent wedding parties can swamp the property and leave facilities closed to existing guests. Other downsides include complaints of faulty electrics and poor air-conditioning, and some parts of the hotel are dated. Travelers wanting a beachfront property should consider Taj Holiday Village Resort & Spa.
Scene
Chain resort with Indo-Portuguese architecture and pretty grounds
On Cavelossim's main beach road, the region's colonial heritage gives a personal touch to this chain hotel's vast and semi-outdoor lobby. Carved white pillars supporting a lofty wood ceiling surround Indo-Portuguese influences -- including Vasco da Gama murals, a ship replica complete with sails, and traditional tile-effect flooring. Warm earth tones and intricate wood carvings are found throughout, but the traditional look can feel more dated than charming. Aside from the main building, there are cottage-like villas, and well-maintained paths divide lush lawns with palm trees and lead to the freeform outdoor pool. The large ballroom draws wedding parties, which can unfortunately lead to some areas being blocked off for other guests. Although most guests are families, the atmosphere is quiet and peaceful.
Location
On Cavelossim's main street, within walking distance of the beach
Tourist shops and restaurants dot Cavelossim's main beach road, which the hotel also occupies. Guests are a 10-minute walk from the beach and oceanfront dining. The village of Carmona and town of Cavelossim are a five-minute drive (or 25-minute walk) and the bustling city of Panjim is an hour's drive. Baga and Anjuna beaches and markets are 90 minutes by car. Madgaon Railway Station is a 25-minute drive and Goa International Airport (Dabolim) is a 45-minute drive.
Rooms
Spacious rooms with balconies, traditional touches, and minibars
Rooms are largely spacious, starting at 31 square meters (334 square feet), and divided between the main building and low-rise villas. Older Superior Rooms have Portuguese details in tiled flooring and painted lamps, plus worn but contemporary wooden furniture, and leaf-motif bed runners. Higher-category rooms have fresher decor and a more cohesive color palette. All rooms have private, furnished balconies of varying sizes with wrought-iron railings. Desks, seating areas, and flat-screen TVs come standard, alongside minibars, kettles, bottled water, and safes. Marble bathrooms across the board are attractive, equipped with either rainfall showers or showers and separate tubs, plus hairdryers and toiletries. Wardrobes contain bathrobes, slippers, and ironing facilities. Suites start at 61 square meters (657 square feet) and have living rooms.Note that some guests have complained of weak air-conditioning, and plumbing and electrical issues.
Features
Outdoor pool, simple spa, and 24-hour dining
The main feature at the Radisson Blue Resort Goa Cavelossim Beach is the freeform outdoor pool. Although not large, it's decently size and has water polo nets for group fun, a separate kiddy pool, and adjacent loungers under umbrellas. The Solum Spa isn't anything to write home about, but it offers Ayurvedic treatments and couples' massage rooms, a small hot tub, steam room, and sauna. Additionally, a fitness center has a good range of cardio machines and weights. The 24-hour Upper Deck serves buffet spreads, and live evening music accompanies European and Indian cuisines. Lucio's is a dinner-only restaurant with Goan-Portuguese dishes. Sagres is a popular bar and restaurant thanks to live music and late-night cocktails. Room service is available 24/7. A kids' club offers a wide range of activities and its game room includes a library and PlayStation. Meeting facilities include the ballroom and board rooms, and wedding are common here. Parking and Wi-Fi are both free.
