Bottom Line

La Rosa dei Venti is a small mid-range hotel located on a high point of Lampedusa, with views of the sea in the distance and surrounded by natural vegetation. The 14 rooms are elegant and have garden or pool views and large bathrooms. It’s not close to beaches, but it offers guests a fair bit of seclusion on a beautifully landscaped property, a large outdoor pool, and organized boat tours of the island. A fish dinner is served in the outdoor restaurant twice a week. The use of a small car or scooter as well as airport transfers are included in room rates. Travelers who want to be closer to the beach can try El Mosaico del Sol, which has similar prices and amenities, but is located in a busier area.

La Rosa dei Venti

Scene

Beautifully landscaped and secluded hotel with stone architecture and views of the sea

True to its floral name, La Rosa dei Venti is surrounded by natural vegetation and has lovely gardens with views of the sea in the distance. The lobby and breakfast room are on the higher levels of the hotel, and the buildings feature traditional architecture with lots of stone work and dark wood. The indoor dining area is surrounded by tall arched windows, and there’s an outdoor terrace with big wooden tables under thatched parasols. It’s a quiet, secluded property set perfectly for a restful vacation for couples and adults. Children under age 12 are not allowed.

Location

Perched on a hill, a 10-minute drive to downtown and beaches

The hotel sits on a high point in an inland area of the island, with 360-degree views of the surrounding vegetation and the sea in the distance. The area is primarily dominated by other hotels and private homes. It’s a five-minute drive to the center of town and around a 10-minute drive to Guitgia Beach. The secluded Rabbit Beach is also a 10-minute drive, and it’s a six-minute drive to Lampedusa’s airport. Airport transfers are included in room rates, as is the use of either a small car or a scooter.

Rooms

Spacious rooms with earthy decor and lovely views, some with terraces

The hotel’s 14 air-conditioned rooms are divided into Superior Rooms, which are on the high point, Comfort Rooms, located on a lower level overlooking the pool, and the Standard Rooms, which are on an even lower level and overlook a garden. The rooms have the same rustic look found in the rest of the property, including beds and benches on stone platforms, wood-beamed ceilings (in some), and warmly colored tile floors. Romantic embellishments such as gauzy canopies over beds and woven swing chairs in some rooms elevate what would otherwise be rather basic wicker furnishings. Rooms come with minibars and small flat-screen TVs, and some have private terraces. Yellow-tiled bathrooms are large and have bidets, magnifying mirrors, and shower stalls.
