Herods Herzliya

Herods Herzliya is a stylish luxury hotel focused on business travelers. The simple, elegant decor features a contemporary color palette in grays, dark wood, and blues with modern decor touches throughout. The large landscaped garden sits between the hotel's two buildings. The main building is home to all the hotel’s features and the majority of its rooms. The eastern building houses most of the higher category suites with direct views over the Herzilya marina. Hallways in the eastern building can feel stuffy, and the building doesn’t come off as fresh as the main building. Small details, like nicks in the walls and hasty repairs, are noticeable. During special events or during summer and holidays, when the hotel sees more families, the hotel is prone to feeling cramped, especially during breakfast hours when it can be hard to grab the attention of a server or find a clean table. 

Herods Herzliya is located on a manmade island between two marinas. The front street is quiet and has minimal traffic, so it's best to request taxi service from reception. The Arena mall shopping center is a 13-minute walk away. Dan Acadia Beach can be reached in 18 minutes by foot or five minutes by car. Depending on traffic, Tel Aviv is between a 20- to 45-minute drive south. Ben Gurion Airport is between 25 to 40 minutes away. 

All 252 rooms come with hospitable extras: free bottled water refilled each day, welcome cookies, and kettles with tea and coffee. Deluxe Rooms are spacious with various view options, though not all come with balconies. Deluxe Suites are nearly twice the size with a separate bedroom and living room. Suites upgrade to feature larger mini-fridges, microwaves, and espresso machines, and they offer separate bedrooms and living rooms. Executive Suites are even larger, most with large balconies, and have views either over the pool or marina. They include a dining kitchen area with bar seating and wet bar area. Ground-floor Terrace Mediterranean Suites have wooden sun decks overlooking the sea. The Royal Suites are one- and two-bedroom suites with the best views over the marina and a huge wooden deck with sun loungers. Bathrooms are modern and feature deep tubs and dim lighting. Bathrobes and slippers are provided. 

This hotel is certified kosher and outside food is not allowed in the building. This also means that guests can expect a kosher buffet for breakfast and options on the dinner buffet. There’s also an all-day and nightly menu at the lobby lounge bar, and room service. Buffets are plentiful and pricey, though there’s not much variation between days, which is something to keep in mind for folks considering the half-board option. Expect a "dairy breakfast" with pastries, smoked fish, cheeses, egg dishes, dried fruit, grape leaves, and smoothies for breakfast, and a "meat menu" including pasta, soup, steak, chicken dishes, and cold cuts are on the buffet for dinner. Room service serves both meat and dairy selections. 

Business guests have access to the hotel’s business lounge where they can grab free bites from the snack buffet, mix a drink from the bar, or use the free computer and printer. This is a slim but stylish space with lots of natural light, a relaxed vibe, and selection of books and magazines. A handful of meeting and conference spaces can accommodate between 15 to 120 people, with catering options available. A free shuttle is provided for business travelers working at large companies nearby. 

Features here cater to business travelers and leisure guests. The hotel’s pool is open seasonally, usually closing from November to April. The pool is heated, though it's been reported that the hotel turns off the heat during slow weeks. The pool's usually shaded location at the front of the tall hotel makes for limited sunbathing hours despite the snazzy tiered sun deck set with contemporary loungers. A small kids' pool is located off to the side and the main pool has a chair lift for guests in wheelchairs. 

The Share Spa is located off reception, down a long hallway. The three treatments rooms are spacious with private bathrooms and feel like converted hotel rooms. A small relaxation lounge provides dried fruit, a coffee machine, wine, and sweet treats, while the outside deck has plenty of space to lounge, plus whirlpools and saunas. Use of the whirlpools costs extra. Guests also have access to a 24-hour gym, a bright space with  machines, a free weights area with rubber flooring, and views of the harbor. 

Kid-friendly features include a small, colorful (but windowless) kids' club with a nautical theme on the main buffet floor with activities, crafts, and TV. For those with little ones, there's a baby kit package with bottle warmers, sterilizers, and cribs available with advance notice. Public lounge space includes a bright and contemporary lounge area with plush gray couches, music, and free newspapers. The exterior courtyard features a large wooden deck with patio furniture, modern plastic pod seats, flower landscaping, and a large chessboard. 

Wi-Fi is free throughout the hotel. Garage parking is available for a fee. A free shuttle runs from morning to evening and takes guests to/from the beach and Arena mall. Shabbat-friendly features include elevators and room keys.
