Ixzi Plus Hotel

Set far back from the main road in Ixtapa, Ixzi Plus Hotel has a relaxed and tranquil vibe throughout. The spacious hotel is divided into two sections: villas and rooms, and each section has easy access to a lovely pool terrace. Expect to see open-floor plans with common areas blending into pool terraces, or villas stepping out to beautiful manicured grounds with a serene water feature. The decor throughout the hotel is modern, but minimalist, with sleek black chairs in the main lobby and common areas, white stucco walls, and contemporary tables and chairs in the restaurant. The open-air restaurant only serves breakfast and and the bar is only open based on occupancy of the hotel, so there isn’t much of a social scene. With two pools and spacious rooms, expect to see plenty of couples and families at the Ixzi Plus.

Ixzi Plus Hotel is situated in a quiet residential neighborhood that's not within easy walking distance of shops. It's about an eight-minute drive to downtown Ixtapa. The small resort town has lots of popular restaurants, shops, and bars. The bustling Playa el Palmar is a 10-minute drive from the hotel. For golf enthusiasts, the greens of Campo de Golf Palma Real Ixtapa are a five-minute drive. Zihuatanejo, the sister city of Ixtapa, is a 22-minute drive away from Ixzi. The small fishing village has a bustling downtown area with plenty of restaurants, shops, and the popular Mercado. For those looking for a quieter beach, the white sands of Playa La Ropa in Zihuatanejo are a 23-minute drive from the hotel. The busy boardwalk, Paseo del Pescador, is a 20-minute drive and features an entrance to Playa La Madera, which has plenty of beach clubs and restaurants with lovely views of Zihuatanejo Bay. Travelers should allow 25 minutes of travel time to drive to the Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo Airport. Taxi service is easy to obtain at the hotel through the concierge.

Rooms across all categories are modern and spacious. Decor is minimalist, but contemporary with platform beds, white walls, and orange accent walls. Rooms range in size from Standard to Two-Bedroom Villas. Standard Rooms are in the main area of the hotel and feature either one king-size bed or two queen-size beds. Villas offer more space across the road from the main lobby. The villas are a nice upgrade for families who want a living room and full kitchen. All rooms feature modern amenities like flat-screen TVs, free (but spotty) Wi-Fi, and powerful air-conditioning. The private balconies each of the rooms are nice, but there isn’t much space to walk out onto them. Villas have terraces which lead out to the pool terrace and beautiful grounds. 

Bathrooms are moderately sized and come with a hairdryer, free bottled water, and toiletries. Sinks and vanities are separated from the toilet and standing shower, allowing for more space within the bathroom. Showers feature rainfall showerheads and plenty of towels. 

As a boutique property, Ixzi Plus Hotel offers a pared-down list of amenities relative to other resorts in the area. However the two lovely pool terraces and chic common areas add a welcome upmarket dash. The hotel is centered around the main pool, which features a massive terrace, blue lounge chairs, and a handful of beige umbrellas. A smaller, but equally lovely and tranquil pool is situated across the road amongst the hotel’s villas. Situated among beautiful manicured grounds, the pool has a relaxed and laid-back ambience. A spacious common area is located next to the main pool terrace. The chic open-air patio has white cushioned sleek black wicker furniture, glass top tables, and a flat-screen TV. 

An open-air balcony restaurant and bar overlooks the main pool terrace. The restaurant is open for a casual breakfast, with the bar open only during high season. A moderately-sized yoga studio (also meeting room) is located by the villa pool, and features audiovisual capabilities. Concierge services are available at the front desk for guests. There are a few free parking spaces available, and there is street parking available as well. Wi-Fi is free throughout the common areas.
