Bottom Line

The three-pearl 49’er Inn & Suites offers a good overall value for often-pricey Jackson Hole, located just a short walk from Town Square. It's a casual tourist hotel housed in several buildings, and substantial upgrades in 2015 brought an industrial-chic lobby lounge and dining area with a gas fireplace, and new indoor pool, whirlpool, and fitness center. The free hot breakfast buffet is served year-round, and the hotel operates free shuttles to the ski slopes in winter. Its 142 guest rooms and suites are pleasant and comfortable, but they aren't as attractive as public spaces and some have dated decor. Standard amenities include mini-fridges, coffeemakers, and free Wi-Fi, but only select rooms have microwaves. Rates are competitive with similar hotels nearby, like the Elk Country Inn, which is typically slightly cheaper but doesn’t include breakfast.

49’er Inn & Suites

Scene

A casual tourist with an appealing lobby and breakfast area

Public spaces at this causal, family-owned hotel remain fresh from their update. Rustic touches are mixed with more modern, industrial-style decor, like rusted metal exteriors and exposed ductwork, and polished concrete floors in the spacious breakfast area. The striking lobby has a gas fireplace facing a distressed cognac leather sofa, an attractive wood-and-granite front desk, and a knotty pine ceiling. There's also a bright, Southwestern-style rug that gives the space an appealing Western look, and wooden figure of a miner gives a nod to the area's mining history. The hotel tends to attract a mix of leisure travelers who are mostly families and couples, along with some friends traveling in groups.

The slopes at Snow King Resort are a five-minute drive away, and Jackson Hole Mountain Resort at Teton Village and the National Elk Refuge take 20 minutes to reach by car. Yellowstone National Park is approximately 75 minutes by car.

Rooms

A mix of contemporary and dated, all with mini-fridges, coffeemakers, and free Wi-Fi

Warm hues of red and gold are the featured colors in the Standard rooms and Double Queen Studio Suites. The combination is used on bed throws that have Southwestern patterns, as well as on the patterned carpet, and wood furniture made from hickory and knotty pine adds a nice rustic touch. While not unpleasant, the colors are somewhat overpowering, and spaces are a bit dark and dated. Standard Double Queens have armchairs and desks, and amenities include flat-screen TVs, mini-fridges, coffeemakers, and free Wi-Fi, but there are no microwaves. Studios add sleeper sofas, small dining tables, and kitchenettes with wet bars, microwaves, mini-fridges, and coffeemakers. King and Double Queen Suites have the same amenities as the Studios (other than wet bars), and they feature fireplaces and larger flat-screen TVs (50-inch versus 32-inch). They're also more contemporary, with black wood furniture and a darker color palette. Bathrooms are tidy and functional, and all come with shower/tub combos, hairdryers, and toiletries. King and Double Queen Suites have roomy granite vanities inside their bathrooms, while Standards and Double Queen Studios have granite vanities outside smaller bathrooms. Units are generally quiet, with half offering views of Snow King Mountain, while others overlook the road and property.
