Bottom Line

The 23-cabin, upper-middle-range Fireside Resort is a rustic, romantic hotel in Wilson, Wyoming, with gorgeous Grand Teton views. The resort has an upscale boutique feel, but no common areas except for a spacious terrace with a hot tub. The location offers a private, luxury camping vibe and is a reasonable drive to downtown Jackson Hole and the many nearby skiing and hiking options. Each spotless, modern cabin has a fireplace, kitchen, separate bedroom and living room, and private furnished deck. Guests seeking more traditional rooms could check out The Sassy Moose Inn, a mid-range bed-and-breakfast with stunning Tetons views.

Fireside Resort

Scene

Cozy, romantic, and private; a rustic modern oasis with individual tiny houses and wandering moose

The Fireside Resort combines aspects of a modern boutique hotel in a rustic campground setting, surrounded by nature, with the occasional moose passing through. The resort embraces eco-friendly practices, and the buildings fit beautifully in their natural environment, where views of the Tetons are abundant and striking. Fans of the tiny house movement will appreciate the spacious but efficient cabin layouts. The quiet, shady grounds are populated by trees and local wildlife, with a creek where kids (or adults) can go wading, and a jogging trail out front. Each cabin has a fire pit, as well as a small grill and a picnic table; guests who want to socialize can, and those seeking privacy can easily find it. The Fireside feels like a small ski town -- it's a peaceful place to relax and recharge and a cozy romantic retreat for all four seasons.

Location

In a quiet, safe woodland area with mountain views, within 15 minutes' drive of Jackson Town Square

The Fireside Resort is located down a tree-lined dirt road that runs alongside busy Moose-Wilson Highway. The area is quiet and safe, surrounded by private homes. There are a variety of good restaurants nearby, including a roadhouse-style spot serving craft beer, a coffee shop, and bratwurst, sushi, and Italian kitchens. The entrance to Grand Teton National Park is a 20-minute drive away. The Fireside is within eight miles, or 15 minutes' drive, of the Jackson Hole Mountain Resort, Jackson Hole Historical Society and Museum, Jackson Town Square, Snow King Resort, the Alpine Slide, and the Jackson Hole Playhouse. Jackson Hole Airport is a 25-minute drive from the hotel. There's also a market with groceries and prepared foods about a mile away.

Rooms

Chic private cabins with stunning picture windows, kitchens, cozy living rooms, and private decks

Cabins at the Fireside Resort are individual gems, examples of the tiny house movement, with a modern, rustic look and upscale amenities. Each unit has a private furnished porch, and most have small lawn areas, each with a picnic table and grill. The decor oozes cabin-y charm, with separate living rooms furnished with leather sofas, ponyskin hassocks, and warm woods. Striking picture windows look over the landscape, but there are curtains to shut out prying eyes.

Every cabin has a fireplace and a small, well-equipped kitchen that includes a dishwasher, microwave, mini-fridge, toaster, coffeemaker, and two-burner cooktop. Pots and pans, glassware, dishes, and utensils are provided. Bathrooms have glassed-in tiled showers, but no tubs. Amenities include flat-screen TVs with cable channels in the bedrooms and living rooms, and free toiletries. Rooms near the highway get more noise, particularly during the summer months. Noise from RVs driving into their parking lot and campground at the back of the property can also be heard in some cabins. There is no air-conditioning in cabins.
