Dusun Jogja Village Inn

Dusun Jogja Village Inn provides a tranquil oasis from bustling Yogyakarta, thanks to its setting on the outskirts of the city. Separated from the street by a tall bamboo fence, the hotel’s understated charm is evident right from the entrance, which takes guests past a koi pond, old bicycle, empty birdcage, rickshaw, and vintage suitcases. The grounds are truly breathtaking, and the outdoor pool, room terraces, and open-air restaurant allow visitors to take in the setting throughout the hotel. The design is rustic elegance, with traditional Indonesian decor such as vaulted wooden ceiling, painted tiles, and carved wood furniture. While primarily popular with couples, the property also attracts families and groups of friends. 

The hotel has a quiet setting, though it's just around a 10-minute walk from the tourist strips of Prawirotaman and Tirtodipuran, both full of restaurants, shops and bars. Ppoular Kraton (Sultan Palace) is a 13-minute drive away, while the lively Malioboro Street in the heart of the city is 15 minutes. Several museums and a water park are within a 20-minute drive. The temple complex of Borobudur takes 40 minutes by car, and the nearest beach is a 45-minute drive. Meanwhile, Adisutjipto International Airport is a 25-minute drive. The hotel offers free parking, and staff can organize airport transfers.

From the compact Superior Rooms just above the lobby to the spacious Junior Suite, Dusun Jogja Village Inn offers 24 rooms to suit a variety of travelers. All rooms are done in a charming, though rustic, style. Expect orange and green walls and patterned tiles, stately four-poster beds with mosquito nets, wooden furniture, and patterned bed runners and throw pillows with gecko motifs. Meanwhile, the one Junior Suite has yellow walls, a separate work area with a desk, vintage espresso machine, and lovely outdoor terrace with a water feature, bench, and stone bathtub with a showerhead. Some rooms also have semi-outdoor bathrooms with shower/tub combos. Others are indoors and have exquisite colorful tiling.

All units come with flat-screen TVs, desks, air-conditioning, minibars, kettles, and free Wi-Fi. Bathrooms are stocked with slippers, hairdryers, and toiletries in stone jars. Sliding doors open onto furnished balconies or verandas, overlooking the garden or pool. On the downside, the hotel experiences noise from a nearby mosque, including very early in the morning (guests are given earplugs at check-in).

A highlight of the hotel is its appealing saltwater swimming pool. Set amid lush greenery, the pool has a shallow kids' area and is surrounded by a stone deck with rattan loungers. The adjacent pool bar has cushioned benches, tables and chairs, and a decorative rickshaw seat. For further relaxation, a simple spa has tables partitioned off by curtains, where guests can receive a range of treatments such as massages and body scrubs. There is also a small beauty salon that offers mani/pedis and hair styling, but no gym is available.

The open-air restaurant serves Indonesian, Chinese, and Western dishes, as well as cold beer and cocktails. Meals are well-reviewed, and rates include buffet breakfasts with typical continental fare. A mini-theater seats up to 10 people, plus there are a small library, tour desk, and function space. Those seeking quiet contemplation can find solitude in the hotel’s meditation hut, which is hidden in greenery and flanked by sculptures.
