Bottom Line

Days Inn Wildwood is an 80-room budget-friendly hotel that has a great location but is in major need of a facelift. The older property shows its age with cracked, stained ceilings, crumbling tiles, and a few shoddily repaired appliances here and there. However, many rooms have updated furniture and decor, even if it is a bit bland and chain-like. There are two pools and a large sundeck with a barbecue area. Wildwoods Convention Center, the boardwalk, and the beach are directly across the street, and attractions like Morey’s Pier and the water parks are within a 10- to 15-minute walk. Days Inn offers free parking and Wi-Fi, but there are some cleanliness issues throughout the property. We prefer Adventurer Ocean Front Inn, which usually has similar rates but offers more amenities.

Oyster Hotel Review

Days Inn & Suites by Wyndham Wildwood

Scene

A year-round hotel that caters to vacationers and business travelers

Like many of its neighbors, Days Inn Wildwood sees a large summertime crowd of vacationing families. During the warmer months the pools are crowded, the sundeck gets loud, and the atmosphere edges towards rowdiness. Unlike many of its neighbors, Days Inn is open during the eerily quiet winter months when out of season travelers come to the sleepy ghost town for peace and quiet, and where businesspeople stay when they are in town for a convention.

The lobby is larger and nicer than most in the area, and more closely resembles a comfortable living room than a reception office.

Location

Directly across the street from the WIldwoods Convention Center

For business travelers, Days Inn WIldwood is perfectly located across the street from the Wildwoods Convention Center. This means Days Inn guests don’t have to pay for the convention center’s expensive parking; they can simply walk across the street instead. For vacationers, Days Inn is also reasonably convenient. It’s far enough away from the boardwalk rides and water parks to remain quiet at night, but close enough that families can walk to attractions like Morey’s Pier in under 15 minutes. For the best beach access, it’s easiest to walk three blocks to Rio Grande Avenue and enter the beach from the boardwalk entrance there.

Rooms

Predictably bland, with some wear and tear issues

Rooms at Days Inn Wildwood have a predictable chain-like feel to them. Decor is woefully bland, with textured taupe walls, nicked wood furniture, and token gold-framed pastel landscapes. Many rooms are efficiency units, with separate bedroom and living spaces, as well as fully equipped kitchenettes. It’s truly luck of the draw when it comes to kitchenette aesthetic -- some are updated with modern appliances, cabinets, and countertops, while others look to be at least 20 years old. All have granite slabs with a sink and a two-top electric burner, full-size refrigerator, coffeemaker, and microwave. Cabinets are stocked with utensils, cups, plates, bowls, and several pots and pans. Bathrooms are tiny across the board, whether in studios or suites. The toilet, single sink, and shower-tub combo are so cramped together that there’s barely enough space for the person using the bathroom. Most are equipped with plenty of towels, a few generic toiletries, and a hairdryer.

Although we didn’t notice any cleanliness issues during out visit, many guests complain that the hotel does a poor job with upkeep. We did notice obvious signs of wear and tear, like nicks and scratches on furniture, rust rings around bathtub drains, stained or dislodged ceiling tiles, and shoddily repaired (read, duct-taped) appliances.

Features

Two pools, two gas grills, and free parking and Wi-Fi

There are two pools at the Days Inn, one on the ground level, and another on an upper sundeck. The ground level pool tends to be less crowded during the day, as the upper pool is newer and has a cool water feature. Both pools are surrounded by well-worn blue lounge chairs, but the upper pool also has a few umbrella-covered tables. There is also a second, larger sundeck with a designated barbecue area and a few tables and chairs. The barbecue area has two gas grills for guests to use. The hotel offers free parking and Wi-Fi, but parking can be tight in the on-site lot.
