Earls Court House

The Earls Court House hotel's tan manor-style building accurately reflects the charming, yet homey, atmosphere of its interior. Victorian decor is used throughout including maroon patterned carpets, glass chandeliers, an old-fashioned wooden front desk, and antique velour and upholstered couches clustered near a fireplace. Grandfather clocks, antique phones, and gilded framed paintings of the Irish countryside give this place an elegant Old World vibe. By contrast, the breakfast room resembles an ancient hunting lodge with dim lighting from an iron chandelier, wooden floors, old-fashioned Irish tapestries, dark wooden furniture, and a brick fireplace decorated with a stag’s head. It’s mostly couples who stay here, though families are frequent visitors as well. 

Earls Court House is well located for those that want to be far from the bustle of central Killarney, but still be able to access it on foot. It’s a 10-minute walk to the city’s main avenues of Main and High Street that are filled with shops and restaurants. Ross Golf Club and Killarney Racecourse are about a 15-minute walk from here. Many places are best reached by car or bus, such as Killarney National Park, which is a five-minute drive away, and the Muckross House and Gardens, an eight-minute drive. Ross Castle is a six-minute drive and Torc Waterfalls is 10 minutes away by car. A bus and train station can be reached on foot in about 15 minutes. It’s a 25-minute drive to Kerry Airport. 

The Earl Court House's spacious guest rooms have an old-fashioned, regal style that includes dark wooden antique furniture, printed drapes, floral couches and chairs, and the occasional bed canopy or four-poster bed. Amenities include flat-screen TVs, coffee/tea-makers, and safes. Though there is no air-conditioning, and some rooms lack sufficient dresser storage, guests have the option of additional luxuries such as a balcony in Twin Rooms; American electrical outlets in Deluxe Rooms, Suites, and Family Rooms; or a fireplace to cozy around on a cold Irish night. Bathrooms have a contemporary style with white, cream, or gray tiles and shower/tub combos with deep tubs. Hairdryers, toiletries, cotton balls, and Q-tips are provided. Certain rooms -- like the Four Poster Double Room -- have jetted tubs and separate showers. 

Earls Court House is a homey property, and its features reflect that. The hotel’s Resident’s Lounge encourages camaraderie with a pile of board games, a small library of books, and comfy sofas and chairs. Tea, coffee, and pastries are served for free in the afternoons in the lounge and a small menu of snacks such as wraps, baked goods, or wine is available to order from until the early evening. A daily, made-to-order breakfast and breakfast buffet is served in the mornings and is included in the room rates. There is no bar on-site, nor are evening meals available, but there are restaurants within walking distance. Guests can make use of self-service laundry facilities, a great option for travelers on long trips, though it’s quite costly. The hotel’s business center resides in the lounge and consists of two computers and a printer. There’s free Wi-Fi throughout the property and a free parking lot.
