Metropolitan Boutique Hotel

The Metropolitan Boutique Hotel is housed in a recently renovated 19th-century building with exposed brick walls and wooden floors. Inside, the lobby has a neutral color palette with a black marble front desk, tan chaise lounges, gray slipper chairs, and a few roll-arm couches in an autumnal red. The restaurant continues this modern decor with high-backed red, gray, or cream plush chairs, drum-shade chandeliers, and enlarged fashion photography adorning the walls. There’s also an attractive outdoor courtyard with woven outdoor furniture and lounge chairs. Guests are a mix of vacationing couples and business travelers. 

The Metropolitan Boutique Hotel is located in a busy area near many of Krakow’s popular attractions, making it easy for travelers to explore the city on foot. Kazimierz, the Jewish Quarter with many historical sites, is a 10-minute walk away. Old Town Square, which has historical attractions and areas to buy traditional Polish crafts, takes 10 minutes to reach on foot. Wawel Royal Castle is a 15-minute walk away, and Schindler’s Enamel Factory is a 20-minute walk or a seven-minute drive. It's a half-hour drive to John Paul II Krakow-Balice International Airport.

Rooms at the Metropolitan have a sleek, contemporary look with a gray, brown, taupe, and white color scheme, striped or floral-patterned curtains or bed runners, and black-and-white photographs of Krakow sites and architecture. Classic Rooms have plush armchairs, while Superior Rooms have chaise lounges. Suites have extra seating options in the form of modish plush couches or additional armchairs in seating areas. Standard amenities include flat-screen TVs, kettles, air-conditioning, safes, and minibars with free bottled water. Some rooms have balconies, and the Suite Metropolitan also has a dining table and a kitchenette.

Bathrooms are similarly trendy, with light gray marble tile and contrasting black marble countertops. Hairdryers, magnifying mirrors, and fair-trade toiletries come standard. Classic Room bathrooms are small with glass shower stalls and limited counter space, while Superior and Triple Rooms have large counters and shower/tub combos. The bathroom in the Suite Metropolitan has a separate walk-in shower and soaking tub. 

The hotel’s best feature is its restaurant -- Fab Fusion -- which sometimes has live piano performances, and hotel guests get discounts on meals. There’s also a full-size bar that serves a variety of reasonably priced drinks. A daily buffet breakfast is included in room rates and offers typical American and English items. The on-site fitness center has three cardio machines with TVs, a large weight lifting machine with various features, and free weights. Business amenities include two fully equipped conference rooms, a business center, and free Wi-Fi. There is also parking available (for a fee) in a camera-monitored parking lot, and the front desk can set up tours for guests.
