Hotel Cruise

The five-story Hotel Cruise is a large, upscale hotel with a colorful exterior and giant lettering atop the building, which is noticeable from miles away. It's an easy stop from the highway, but situated in an industrial area, so most guests staying at the hotel find it necessary to have a car. The hotel is located at least a 15-minute drive away from the center of Lake Como and its picturesque restaurants that overlook the water.

Nestled inside a light-filled, airy space with tall glass windows, the lobby features dark hardwood floors and simplistic yet modern decor. A cluster of sofas in earth tones give the lobby a chic look that is livened up by light aqua accent walls and funky orange chairs. The walls and carpet in the hallways are red, adding to the hotel's cool, contemporary vibe. Parts of the lobby and restaurant overlook a wide green lawn and courtyard area.

Though there are no mountain or lake views at this hotel, parking is free and the location bodes well for either travelers passing through or for business clientele, as there is plenty of meeting space. Room rates are reasonable considering the size of the rooms and the completely updated decor and furnishings.

Hotel Cruise is not located directly on Lake Como; it’s at least a 15-minute drive away by car. The hotel property is close to the main thoroughfare and the majority of guests who book a room at this hotel have personal cars that they drive into the city center. Parking is free at the hotel. Though there is a shopping center nearby, the property is not located within walking distance to restaurants and tourist attractions.

Both the standard rooms and suites at Hotel Cruise are luxurious and spacious. Rooms vary in size and all feature wood floors, flat-screen TVs, mini-fridges, coffeemakers, vibrant artwork, and modern decor. Bathrooms are outfitted in marble with either a bathtub or large shower (some have both), separate bidet and toilet, hairdryer, slippers, and luxury bath products. Some rooms have garages with private staircases leading to the units above.

Hotel Cruise lacks resort-style amenities, such as a pool or a spa. The hotel has a spacious gym that overlooks a green courtyard and features cardio equipment, weight machines, and free weights. There’s also a business center with computers and printers for guest use, as well as event space that can accommodate up to 250 people. Wi-Fi is free throughout the rooms and public areas of the hotel. The restaurant at the hotel serves a free breakfast buffet (which ends early), as well as lunch and dinner for a fee -- food quality is average.
