Bottom Line

Scotty's Lakeside Resort is a seasonal mid-range property situated on Lake George, just north of the Village of Lake George and within a 10- to 15-minute walk of the town center. The 106 simple, homey rooms are small, but many have lake views, plus all offer amenities like flat-screen TVs, mini-fridges, microwaves, coffeemakers, and shared furnished porches. A nice beach area offers loungers, a beach volleyball court, and water sport rentals, plus there's an outdoor pool. The Beach Cafe and Bar sells casual fare for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Note that a weak Wi-Fi signal is a common complaint among guests here. For an alternative, check out the Comfort Suites Lake George, which offers more features like a fitness center, waterslide, and free breakfast -- but it's not on the water.

Scotty’s Lakeside Resort

Mid-range motel-style property on the lakefront -- popular with groups

This mid-range motel-style property was one of the first to be built in the area, and it influenced the style of neighboring hotels that came after. The low-rise wooden architecture has been maintained despite expansions and renovations throughout the years. Two rows of buildings stretch lengthily along a long drive that's skirted by bushes and greenery and features a lovely view of Lake George.

Guests are greeted in a small, but inviting, lobby that's full of natural light and features a bright and surprisingly contemporary style. Cheery orange armchairs are paired with wooden floors and soft neutral hues. Built right by the beach, the cafe has a homey look, with wooden tables and booth seating, green walls paired with wooden paneling accenting some areas, and large windows overlooking the lakeshore. The views are even better at the bar, which features a corner location right on the beach and a casual atmosphere complete with a pool table and foosball. Overall, it's a casual place with a relaxed atmosphere that attracts vacationing families and couples. Note that the resort is open seasonally.

Rooms

Simple and homey rooms and suites have flat-screen TVs, mini-fridges, and microwaves

There are a number of different types of rooms here catering to both couples and families with kids. Decor is simple and homey, with cream-colored walls against carpeted floors and wooden furniture. The units are a bit small, but make efficient use of space. Standard amenities include flat-screen TVs, free Wi-Fi, mini-fridges, microwaves, coffeemakers, and air-conditioning.

Entry-level rooms are situated near the reception area and have the most lackluster views, overlooking the resort and lacking vistas of the lake. Standard rooms have partial lake views, while Lakefront and Lakeside Rooms are right on the lake and have the best views. All rooms have shared porches furnished with chairs and tables. The largest units are the Two Room Studio Suites and Three Room Family Suites. The latter have living rooms with pull-out couches as well as kitchenettes.

Bathrooms are simple and small, with not much storage space, but they're clean. They're equipped with shower/tub combos (some have walk-in showers), plus toiletries and hairdryers are provided.
