Adya Hotel Langkawi

The Adya Hotel Langkawi opened in January 2015, which means all areas are contemporary and more furnishings are in good condition -- though there's some minor wear. Though the Adya is an Islamic concept, guests are both Muslim and non-Muslim, and split evenly between couples and families. The design throughout consists of primarily neutral-tone decor, with occasionally pops of yellow, orange, and red. Keeping with the theme, the hotel has a mosque-like pointed-archway entrance, while the grand lobby features lots of metal cutouts, floor-to-ceiling glass, and clusters of burnt-orange armchairs. More notable, however, are the stunning views of Kuah town and the Strait Of Malacca from rooms and the two outdoor pools with attractive mosaic tiling. Given that there's no alcohol served on-site, the atmosphere is relaxed and peaceful.  

In the middle of the city’s commercial district, Adya Hotel Langkawi is walking distance to shops, restaurants, and cultural sites. It overlooks the Strait of Malacca and is a 25-minute drive to Cenang Beach, which may be inconvenient for travelers looking to spend a lot of time at the beach. It’s an eight-minute drive to the tourist attraction Eagle Square and a six-minute drive to Night Market Kuah Town. Langkawi International Airport is a 26-minute drive away. There's a movie theater a two-minute walk from the hotel, plus stores (including a duty-free shop) and spas within walking distance.

Rooms are contemporary and comfortable, outfitted with simplistic wooden furniture, large headboards, granite-topped desks, carpet, and a mix of neutral-tone and satin orange linens. All rooms come with small, unfurnished balconies with modern glass railings that have beautiful panoramic views of the town center and sea in the distance. Also standard are air-conditioning with individual control panels, flat-screen TVs with satellite and cable channels (along with free in-house movies), coffee- and tea-making facilities, mini-fridges, prayer mats, and safety deposit boxes. Some bathrooms are a bit tight on space, but all have free toiletries, hairdryers, and showers with rainfall showerheads; tubs are available in suites. Note that most room floors are smoke-friendly, which may be a con for some. 

Adya Hotel Langkawi is a Muslim-owned hotel, meaning there is no alcohol served on-site. Leisure facilities include an outdoor swimming pool with adjacent kiddy pool, loungers, and dining sets. There's also a women-only swimming pool with stunning vistas. The small spa offers massage treatments, and although the gym is spacious, it only has a handful of equipment. There’s a coffee shop at the hotel and a 24-hour restaurant that serves a wide variety of options. All rates include a quality free breakfast buffet. Wi-Fi is free throughout and parking is free. A ballroom and meeting spaces are available as well.
