Bottom Line

H10 Suites Lanzarote Gardens is one of the best upper-middle-range options for families in Costa Teguise. Its 241 apartments are clean and spacious enough for at least two adults and two kids, and all feature kitchenettes, sofa beds, and balconies or patios. Bungalows have fully equipped kitchens, and some units have bunk beds for children. The kids’ club is one of the hotel’s biggest selling points, with full entertainment programs for babies, toddlers, children, and teens. One of the hotel’s three pools features a pirate ship complete with five waterslides, and the buffet restaurant has a cute separate section for children. The location a short walk from the beach and the heart of the action in Costa Teguise is convenient, but the Lanzarote Gardens is not for those seeking a quiet, relaxing vacation. Families on a tighter budget may want to compare rates at Santa Rosa.

H10 Suites Lanzarote Gardens

Scene

Bustling family-friendly all-inclusive with three pools and an excellent kids’ club

First opened in 1986 and fully renovated in 2015, the H10 Suites Lanzarote Gardens stands out for its fresh, contemporary common areas. Its interiors have simple but cute all-white decor with neutral accents and stylish details such as tufted chairs, and wood and wicker finishes. White tiled floors, large windows, and a big skylight make the lobby airy and appealing, while a library corner with wooden floors and white club chairs adds style. The reception area is generally busy with guests checking in and out, relaxing on the couches, or booking tours, but it is quiet compared to other areas in the property.

The vast majority of guests are British and German families with babies, toddlers, and young children in tow, and the vibe is bustling and loud during the day. The restaurant is spacious and stylish, with a special section for children complete with charming cartoon decorations and colorful kid-size furniture. It can feel a little overcrowded at peak times, but the outdoor terrace is somewhat more relaxing. During the day, the atmosphere around the main pool is vibrant and loud, with kids splashing and running around, and plenty of activities for all ages. In fact, one of the hotel’s main draws is its kids’ program, which offers separate areas and entertainment options for babies, toddlers, children, and teens.

While this is one of the best family-friendly options in Costa Teguise, those looking for something cheaper may want to compare rates at the Santa Rosa, which has basic apartments with kitchens and is a little farther from the action. Hotel Beatriz Costa & Spa is a good option for travelers seeking a quieter atmosphere, but rooms are a little dated and it is not within walking distance of the beach. Relaxia Lanzasur Club is farther away from the airport, but features an excellent water park and family-friendly apartments with kitchenettes.

Location

A short walk from shops, restaurants, and Las Cucharas Beach

H10 Suites Lanzarote Gardens is located on Avenida de las Islas Canarias, one of Costa Teguise’s main thoroughfares. Plenty of shops (including a couple of supermarkets) and some bars and restaurants line the street, which gets quite some foot traffic during the day. While not in the heart of the action, the H10 Lanzarote Gardens is conveniently located about a 10-minute walk from Costa Teguise’s main drag and Pueblo Marinero, a charming little square designed by famous local architect Cesar Manrique and full of dining and drinking options. Sandy Las Cucharas beach is also just a five-minute walk down the street, and Charcos Bay is just a little farther away but still within easy walking distance. The only golf course in the area (and one of the few in Lanzarote) is a five-minute drive away. Arrecife, home to a handful of historic and cultural attractions -- including San Gabriel and San Jose castles, La Recova Market, and the 18th-century San Gines Church -- is a 15-minute drive away. The hotel is 35 minutes from Parque Nacional de Timanfaya, home to several stunning volcanos and a must-see attraction on any trip to Lanzarote. The airport is a also just about 15 minutes away by car. The hotel has a small private parking lot with a handful of spaces.

Rooms

Spacious apartments with kitchenettes, sofa beds, and balconies or patios

The hotel has 219 spacious apartments housed in six low-rise blocks, and 22 duplex bungalows located closer to the kids’ club and the restaurant. All units were renovated in 2015 and have fresh decor in neutral tones. The style is  generic and simple, with beige couches, dark IKEA-style coffee tables, and white walls. Laminate floors and clean lines are contemporary touches, though, and everything is kept clean. A few apartments have two bedrooms -- including one with bunk beds and colorful cartoon-inspired decor -- but most are one-bedroom units with two twin beds in the master bedroom and a sofa bed in the living room for two extra guests. Top-floor units have balconies with tables and chairs, and ground-floor rooms have small furnished patios.

Kitchenettes are tiny but well-equipped, with microwaves, mini-fridges, coffeemakers, electric kettles, and sinks. Air-conditioning is available throughout, and the temperature can be controlled separately in the living areas and bedrooms. Flat-screen TVs and hairdryers are also standard amenities, and Wi-Fi is free throughout the property, including in all rooms. Safes can be rented for a daily or weekly fee.

Bungalows are even bigger than apartments and have stylish touches such as large black-and-white photos of flowers, and red or orange accents in kitchen cabinets and lamps. These units have a master bedroom, a bathroom, and a terrace with loungers on the ground floor, and a living room with a sofa bed and a kitchenette with a cooktop on the top floor. Safety stair gates are available for those traveling with kids.

Most bathrooms have shower/tub combos, but a handful have walk-in showers. Basic toiletries such as shower gel, shampoo, and hand soap are provided in all rooms, along with combs and paper tissues.

All-Inclusive / Food

Buffet restaurant with a kids’ section, and a snack bar with small bites and drinks

The hotel’s main restaurant serves a big buffet spread for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Some guests have complained that food can be lukewarm, but the restaurant generally gets great reviews for variety and quality. The space is airy and cute, with white and turquoise chairs, laminate floors, large windows, and exposed wood ceilings. It can feel a little overcrowded during the dinner service, but there is additional seating outside on the terrace. A separate area for kids is decorated with cartoon murals and colorful kid-size tables and chairs. The poolside snack bar offers an array of sandwiches, salads, some fruit, and ice cream, along with a selection of local and imported drinks.

Breakfast-only, half-board, and all-inclusive rates are available at the H10 Suites Lanzarote Gardens, but most guests go for the latter. The all-inclusive package covers all food and local drinks, some imported drinks, and a few cocktails until late at night.
