Bottom Line

Hotel Serapo sits on a beautiful, sandy, private beach off a main road within a short drive of many of the surrounding beaches and sights. It has both an indoor and outdoor pool, and is surrounded by beautiful gardens, even though they look a bit overgrown. There are plenty of good restaurants in the area, but the mid-range Serapo has three as well, all which offer indoor and outdoor seating. There are seven meeting rooms available for events. All 170 guest rooms are big, and have private balconies, although the decor could use a refresh.

Hotel Serapo

Scene

Large front lobby with dated decor, and grounds with pretty but overgrown gardens

This large hotel consists of four buildings joined together. The front lobby is large, with as assortment of couches and tables, including a massage chair. The lobby also has a small library and two computers for guests' use. The brown-and blue-decor is outdated and generic looking. Hotel grounds are surrounded by slightly overgrown gardens, but they're still pretty, with a variety of trees, flowers, and grassy lawns.

Rooms

Mostly outdated rooms with minimal decor, but some have been modernized

Guests can choose between a Standard Room, Classic Superior Room, Junior Suite, or a Junior Suite with an ocean view. The Standard Rooms are basic, and outdated with generic-looking furniture, tiled floors, and tube-style TVs. The only embellishment is the flowers painted on the wall over the bed. The more deluxe rooms have been updated and show more personality in the decor. All the rooms have large closets and small balconies. There are no mini-fridges and safes, however. Bathrooms are small and simple, with outdated fixtures and no luxuries. They have bidets, and some have a stand-in showers or tubs. The updated guest rooms have new bathrooms, with new tiling and fixtures. Wi-Fi isn't available in the guest rooms.
