Bottom Line

The 96-room Hotel Miraparque is a modern, upper-mid-range property with affordable rates and a slightly fringe location beside Eduardo VII Park. Fortunately, it does have close access to the Parque subway station that’s 15 minutes from the city center. Modern rooms and suites -- with some dated features -- offer minibars, flat-screen TVs, safes, and park views. A small, stylish restaurant and bar are on-site, along with a meeting room. Common areas here are limited compared to what's offered at the old-fashioned Hotel Eduardo VII, and the overall look isn't quite as trendy as the style at Hotel Expo Astoria.

Hotel Miraparque

Scene

This affordable, upper-mid-range property has contemporary decor.

Hotel Miraparque is a modern sixth-floor building that’s retained a bit of its original retro charm from when the property was built in 1960. The brown-and-white exterior of the hotel, which features boxed windows, blends seamlessly with the other buildings on the block. Gray chairs, wood-paneled walls, modern lamps, and a colorful painting create a modern atmosphere in the lobby. However, a frosted glass mirror, salmon-colored bench seating, and glass display case with souvenirs at the hotel’s the entrance have a retro feel. An old-fashioned wooden staircase wraps around a narrow elevator. Colorfully carpeted hallways match brightly trimmed room doors. The modern atmosphere and competitive prices attract mostly couples, but also travelers with children.

Rooms

Neutral, modern rooms have simple designs and flat-screen TVs. Some have views of the park.

Interior designs are clean and simple with neutral tones and mostly modern decor. Brown carpeting, gray furnishings, wooden writing desks, and off-white upholstered headboards that are framed by maze-like designs create a contemporary atmosphere. There are, however, some dated features, including key-operated safes and older-looking telephones. The best views overlook the park and the worst face other buildings. Single Rooms are great for solo travelers. Family Rooms offer three beds in each. Double Rooms -- available with extra beds -- also have small sitting areas. Suites have separate bedrooms.

All rooms come with small flat-screen TVs and minibars. Arched doorways in some rooms add a bit of charm. Tiled bathrooms are cramped, but well-kept with shower/tub combos or standalone showers, mounted toiletries, bidets, and hairdryers.
