Bottom Line

The NH Campo is a mid-range hotel located conveniently close to the airport -- but not much else. Guests enter the hotel through the bright lobby, which, though simple, is an attractive space with red furniture and sepia-toned artwork. The lobby bar has a similar, contemporary vibe, but the room decor is less impressive. Though rooms are large -- and most feature sizable flat-screen TVs -- the decor scheme of whites and light woods is bland. Bathrooms are similarly basic. Families and groups on a budget will appreciate the wallet-friendly family rooms, and a small fitness center and a restaurant and bar are additional perks. But a fee for Wi-Fi and the hotel's distance from the city center can detract from its value for those in Lisbon on leisure.

NH Lisboa Campo Grande

Location

Close to the airport, but not much else

The NH Campo Grande is located in a convenient spot for business travelers, a 10-minute drive from the airport. But for leisure travelers, or those hoping to spend a significant amount of time in the city center, the hotel feels a bit isolated; almost all attractions require a taxi or a ride on the metro.

Lisbon, the capital of Portugal, is a beautiful, colorful city overlooking the Atlantic. Like Rome and San Francisco, Lisbon is a city built on seven hills; but it has an Athens-like vibe with white-washed, red-roofed buildings, a fishing community, and laid-back people. Though many buildings were destroyed in the Great Earthquake of 1755, Lisbon still has a rich history (including historic buildings and cobblestone streets).

Originally referred to as the "eighth wonder of the world," Lisbon was a major importer of exotic goods from Europe and Asia. But nowadays, Lisbon can be overlooked due to the popularity of the quaint, seaside beach towns nearby. But those who love the city can tell visitors the many things they miss when skipping over Lisbon; it is a city of iconic historic buildings (such as St. George's Castle), extensive museums, and fabulous shopping -- particularly for gold, silver, and antiques.

  • 9-minute drive to Lisbon Portela Airport, or 23 minutes via public transportation
  • Across the street from the Entre Campos metro station
  • Across the street from the Campo Grande Park
  • 11-minute walk to the Campo Pequeno Arena
  • 9-minute drive to Avenida da Liberdade, Lisbon's main artery lined by shops, or 14 minutes via public transportation
  • 12-minute drive to the Baixa, the financial district, or 15 minutes via public transportation
  • 12-minute drive to Rossio, a main square, or 13 minutes via public transportation
  • 12-minute drive to the Santa Justa historic elevator, with great views, or 21 minutes via public transportation
  • 13-minute drive to Barrio Alto, the heart of Lisbon's nightlife, or 21 minutes via public transportation
  • 13-minute drive to the National Museum of Ancient Art, or 18 minutes via public transportation
  • 13-minute drive to Chiado, the main shopping area, or 16 minutes via public transportation
  • 15-minute drive to St. George's Castle, or 34 minutes via public transportation
  • 15-minute drive to Alfama, a Moorish area with fado clubs, or 26 minutes via public transportation
  • 15-minute drive to Casa dos Bicos, or 22 minutes via public transportation
  • 15-minute drive to Praca de Comercio, a beautiful plaza facing the river, or 16 minutes via public transportation
  • 15-minute drive to the the Coach Museum, the largest museum of royal coaches in the world, or 50 minutes via public transportation
  • 16-minute drive to the Jeronimos Monastery, or 35 minutes via public transportation
  • 17-minute drive to the Belem Tower, or 49 minutes via public transportation
