Bottom Line

The Altis Park Hotel is one of the more disappointing options in the Altis chain. Though the hotel is a good pick for business travelers -- it has 11 meeting rooms, a large auditorium, and is a short drive from the airport -- it has bland decor and is isolated from major attractions. Small rooms are dated with graphic carpets and plain bathrooms. Rooms do feature small flat-screen TVs, but Wi-Fi will cost extra. The hotel has a restaurant and bar with live music six days a week, and though the hotel does not have a fitness center, it does offer discounted rates at a health club nearby with tennis courts, two pools, and a gym. The sister property, Altis Hotel, has a more central location as well as on-site amenities such as a pool and fitness center.

Ramada by Wyndham Lisbon

Location

In Olaias, a 15-minute drive to the heart of Lisbon

The Altis Park is located in a convenient spot for business travelers, a 10-minute drive from the airport. But for leisure travelers, or those hoping to spend a significant amount of time in the city center, the hotel feels a bit isolated. Though the drive often isn't very long, almost all attractions require a taxi or a ride on the metro.

Lisbon, the capital of Portugal, is a beautiful, colorful city overlooking the Atlantic. Like Rome and San Francisco, Lisbon is a city built on seven hills; but it has an Athens-like vibe with white-washed, red-roofed buildings, a fishing community, and laid-back people. Though many buildings were destroyed in the Great Earthquake of 1755, Lisbon still has a rich history (including historic buildings and cobblestone streets).

Originally referred to as the "eighth wonder of the world," Lisbon was a major importer of exotic goods from Europe and Asia. But nowadays, Lisbon can be overlooked due to the popularity of the quaint, seaside beach towns nearby. But those who love the city can tell visitors the many things they miss when skipping over Lisbon; it is a city of iconic historic buildings (such as St. George's Castle), extensive museums, and fabulous shopping -- particularly for gold, silver, and antiques.

  • 10-minute drive to Lisbon Portela Airport, or 38 minutes via public transportation
  • Across the street from the Olaias metro station
  • 8-minute walk to Bela Vista Park
  • 9-minute drive to the Santa Justa historic elevator, with great views, or 17 minutes via public transportation
  • 10-minute drive to St. George's Castle, or 27 minutes via public transportation
  • 10-minute drive to Alfama, a Moorish area with fado clubs, or 25 minutes via public transportation
  • 11-minute drive to Avenida de Liberdade, Lisbon's main artery lined by shops, or 22 minutes via public transportation
  • 11-minute drive to Rossio, a main square, or 13 minutes via public transportation
  • 12-minute drive to Chiado, the main shopping area, or 17 minutes via public transportation
  • 13-minute drive to the Baixa, the financial district, or 16 minutes via public transportation
  • 13-minute drive to Casa dos Bicos, or 10 minutes via public transportation
  • 14-minute drive to Praca de Comercio, a beautiful plaza facing the river, or 20 minutes via public transportation
  • 15-minute drive to Barrio Alto, the heart of Lisbon's nightlife, or 27 minutes via public transportation
  • 16-minute drive to the National Museum of Ancient Art, or 26 minutes via public transportation
  • 20-minute drive to the the Coach Museum, the largest museum of royal coaches in the world, or 32 minutes via public transportation
  • 22-minute drive to the Jeronimos Monastery, or 34 minutes via public transportation
  • 23-minute drive to the Belem Tower, or 39 minutes via public transportation
