St. George’s Hotel

Blending seamlessly into the Victorian seafront terrace, St. George's Hotel presents an immaculate facade of full of period character. A red carpet leads visitors up a balustrade-lined stairway between polished granite columns and into the hotel's reception area -- a bright and airy space that blends original ornate plaster molding with modern illuminated cut-glass chandeliers. The first property built as a hotel in Llandudno (it was not repurposed), this grand, old family-run business underwent a massive renovation in 2006, and is well-maintained.  The property retains a genuine air of sedate old-fashioned seaside charm, attracting couples, who tend to be older, families, and business guests.

The hotel has a prime beachfront location in the popular seaside resort of Llandudno -- the largest in North Wales and one of the most popular in the U.K. Although set on the main seafront road, the surroundings are relatively serene, and the hotel overlooks a pleasant promenade that runs the length of the beach. There are numerous cafes, restaurants, and pubs within a short walk, while the Llandudno train station is about a 10-minute walk from the property. There's also plenty to explore by car, including the nearby Great Orme Country Park and Great Orme Mines (about a five-minute drive) or Conwy Castle (about a 15-minute drive). The majestic Snowdonia National Park, with some of the country's most spectacular landscape and walking trails, is about a half hour's drive.

The hotel has 76 rooms, all of which are decorated in a contemporary style with neutral, earthy tones and modern furnishings. Rooms are air-conditioned, and come with flat-screen TVs, free high-speed Wi-Fi, trouses presses, and tea and coffee facilities, while bathrooms are clean and well-maintained with snazzy black-and-white tiled floors and walk-in showers. Premier Rooms include waffle-towel robes. St George's is one of the few area hotels offering rooms with furnished terraces overlooking the seafront. Note that some of the lower-priced rooms offer little in the way of views and can feel cramped. 

The hotel serves a hearty breakfast each morning in the Terrace Restaurant, which includes kippers and local sausages, and is included in the room rate. The Terrace Lounge and Bar also serves an outstanding afternoon tea, including fresh cakes and sandwiches, with views over the bay. The hotel also has one of the largest seafront hotel car parks in Llandudno and parking is free on a first come, first serve basis. The property has several accessible features, including ramps, elevators, and chair lifts. There are also a mix of six conference and banquet suites, and a business center with computers and printers. Free Wi-Fi is available throughout.
