Bottom Line

Eccleston Square Hotel has pulled out all the stops to ensure the most impressive tech you're likely to find in a hotel room in London. Interiors are beautifully rendered with sharp 21st-century styling and warm traditional touches, plush tech-friendly gadgets like iPads and super-fast Wi-Fi. The location near Victoria station is a welcome perk as well, giving visitors easy access to the rest of the city and beyond. Typical of London, some rooms are tiny, but considering the adults-only hotel's luxe look and high-end technology, rates are surprisingly reasonable.

Scene

This tasteful and meticulous luxury boutique is found behind an elegant Georgian facade.

Opened in 2011 after a £6.5 million renovation, the Eccleston is housed in a typically elegant Georgian townhouse with neo-classical columns, wrought-iron railings, and an immaculate white facade. Stepping inside, guests find that the place feels every inch the luxury boutique hotel -- decor is pristine and achingly tasteful. A sleek polished reception desk reflects patterned floor tiling and is illuminated by a lavish centerpiece chandelier dripping with Murano glass crystals. Finished high-ceilinged hallways feature original plaster cornices and lead to a faux reptile-skin elevator with six TV screens. Thanks partly to its adults-only policy (no one under 13), the ambiance is sophisticated and refined with a real emphasis on creating an exquisite retreat for the discerning traveler.

Location

Easy access to Victoria station transport hub and other major attractions

The hotel is set on a relatively quiet, cobbled side road located just over five minutes by foot from the Victoria transport hub of central London. The area blends upscale ritz with a smattering of inner-city grime and allows for very easy access to and from Gatwick Airport and other areas of London. There are also plenty of nearby attractions, including Buckingham Palace and Tate Britain art gallery, both within a mile of the Eccleston.

Rooms

Ultra high-tech rooms include massage beds and auto-mist shower glass

The hotel's 39 rooms are all decorated in smart, neutral tones with dark wood paneling and simple, contemporary furnishings. Extra comfortable Hästens beds have a range of massage settings and are topped with fine Italian bed linen and funky faux fur. In-room tech is off includes iPad digital concierges, 46" HD-3D TVs with surround sound, ultra-high-speed Wi-Fi, and touch sensitive keypads that control everything from the lights to music. Italian marble bathrooms also include glass that mists on command, TV-integrated mirrors, and heated floors. All the technology, however, can't hide the fact that certain rooms are tiny, though some do have balconies and garden views.

Features

Media Lounge with a massive 3D TV and weekly movie nights

The on-site Bistrot on the Square bar and restaurant serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner in super-chic surroundings, and is also popular with locals. The downstairs Media Lounge provides a laid-back and relaxing environment with a huge 103" flat-screen HD-3D TV which shows sports and film. (There's a movie night once a week.) Free super-speed Wi-Fi is, obviously, available throughout the property, and there’s a library of 3D Blu-ray DVDs available to guests as well.
